I think when people discuss Harley as a PG, they are referring to his ball-handling abilities and the fact that he played PG before he had his growth spurt which left him with some tendencies (from the decision-making standpoint) that many college point guard's have.

As far as style of play (not caliber) would it be fair to compare Harley's mold to someone like Kevin Durant? A taller 3 with a good shot and pretty solid handle? In the last decade, I feel like we have had a lot of 6-8ish guys who we have hoped could play the 3 but have ended up with skillsets more like a PF. Setty and Harley are the latest guys with frontcourt height who can hopefully develop into true SF's.

Harley can shoot, and if you watch him in the pregame dunk lines, you'll see that he has very good leaping ability. If Christian is the skill developer everyone says he is, I expect Harley to blossom over time. There is a lot to work with there.

I agree with the pro Christian posts on this thread. Yes, we are all disappointed in the past few games, but overall, this doesn't mean we have a weak coaching staff. It points to the fact that college basketball is a very tough sport to coach and win at.

We overachieved early in the season and got our hopes up. Now, as our depth shrinks and the physical/mental consequences of being banged around in the MAC for 16 games sets in, we are underachieving.

Overall, to be at the brink of 20 wins and a respectable winning percentage (threw that in for you, Alan) after losing our top four scorers from last year and Ric Johnson is very respectable.

I know some of you think that Ohio should be the next Gonzaga and Butler due to our supposed "incredible recruiting advantages", but it's never worked that way in the MAC. Even Akron and Kent State, in their 20 win seasons, have had years when they weren't playing well at the end of the year.

Next year will truly be a rebuilding year. But I think we will have enough talent to actually reload and finish above .500.

This year highlights how lucky we have been for a long time with injuries.  It's been since about 1998 since we've a spate of injuries this bad.

For the most part I am happy with Christian but now way giving him an A.

Last year he got us our first albeit shared Regular Season Conference crown which was a good accomplishment that has alluded many of our past OHIO teams.  However one that should have happened whoever coached that team, but nonetheless you still have to do it.  The failures of that team in the post-season I think I put more on the players than the Coach.  He still probably could have made some better decisions, but when you have such a Senior and Junior laden team I put a lot of that failure on the players.

As for this year, I think we were all kind of pessimistic coming in to this season.  However Ndour's chemistry and play raised those expectations greatly for  a lot of us.  Again there are decisions that Christian made that could have been better, but the injuries and 1st half play from the players are harder to pin it all on him.  I would say this team has at least met the expectations so far we had for them coming into the year, but has fallen short of what we were expecting after our preseason.  How this team ends the year should give us a bit better picture on what we will get from Christian as a in-game coach, as long as injuries don't completely muck it all up.

Next year will probably the first year we can really start to grade Christian with having time to get his recruits in here and implement his system.  Ndour has been a gem, with Wilkins, Setty, and Campbell a little bit getting better throughout the year.  The only major flop has been Bean and he could still improve, but 1 failed recruit out of 5 is not bad.  Also with all the negative PG talk we have had lately one can't forget we could have had a gem of a PG if Groce had not left, but Michigan got some revenge on us for that NCAA tourney loss by stealing our future PG.

Didn't we we add 2 football players to the roster mid-season during 2002-03 season because we were so banged up?

I disagree that next year will truly be a rebuilding year.

Like this season, despite coming off an off-season where we were hit with a large number of graduating players, I expect Ohio to compete for a Top 4 seeding to the MAC Tournament and also fight to win 20 games next year. To me, being able to win 20+ games and remain near the Top 1/3 of the conference is "reloading." Yes, some years will be better than others, but that sort of continued success is something that the highest quality programs often achieve.

While the uncertainty of relying on new players is always going to tamper some expectations, the reality is every college program in the country must also continue to replace graduating Senior's with unproved Freshman or JUCO's transfers. We had a lot of questions heading into this year, and it worked out pretty well especially when you consider the adversity this team faced starting right before MAC play when Ricardo went down. I have faith that Christian will be able to address the primary questions heading into next season. I think there are less questions about the team next year than we had before this year....

Some of my favorite Dakich stories are from the years at BG when he had a handful of scholarship players healthy and added in FB players to have a roster with enough guys to play. Weird year for injuries, will be interesting to see if it is an anomaly or a trend.  Some coaches just have players dinged up up constantly while other are able to escape the bug. Who is our current strength and conditioning guy for hoops? We lost Basgere to UI. He and Annika really kept us healthy for that run......

I don't remember if that was health or desertion.

I like the direction of the overall program despite the losses that are hard to take. JC was a great hire for a  program that needs long term success without rebuilding years. He lost 4 seniors with the most wins in OU history and has somehow kept us alive for the 4 seed with 2 games to play. My biggest fear is the 3 -4 year prrogram rivival coaches that bolt to bigger programs. That is what hurts most long term goals of mid-majors. I think the best rest for are injured players is to fight for the 4 seed. If you don't play your final 2 games to win what kind of message do you send to your team that is already struggling.

There is a lot of critcism of Stevie but this team plays at a higher level with him in the lineup and healthy. Kudos to him for giving us minutes while injured.  Mo and TJ for playing injured also. We win the final 2 games, get some help from Buffalo and I still think we can make a run.

Looks like it was a little bit of both.  Zach Kiekow left and Delvar Barrett and Sonny Johnson were hurt.  And Marin Bota was called back to the mother planet.
