I was thinking Hawaii may go to Northern Iowa.  ETSU vs JU/SMU winner.  Buffalo vs Iona.  Ohio vs Santa Clara / Air Force winner.

We shall see.

Now, you're talking.  If Air force wins and we play there (here in Colorado Springs).  I'm getting excited if that could happen.  I've got 3 extra bedrooms for some fans if that happens.

Who knows what kind of back stage machinations go on in making these decisions?

I don't know, but I would not be surprised if Ohio's Spring Break could have been a factor in the "road" quarterfinal decision.  Otherwise, it would not make sense to award Ohio a bye and then send them on the road.

I really had my hopes up for another home game.

They're just going to have to win another one, so we can host in the next round!

I'd be surprised if it didn't.  But!  I'm fine with it because this is a team that can win on the road.

When's the last time we could say that about our 'Cats?

Well played, sir.

When is the last time we had a basketball team that was good on the road?

I think that would kind of upset him, his two teams playing each other.

At the risk of blowing the board up I am going to ask. What is the best way to get there from Indiana and from Athens. Besides a stop at Cumberland Gap what other sights and restaurants are in the area?  Looks like SPring Break in TN prior to returning to Indiana for State Finals.

Only time I was there was for a son's soccer tournament about 4 years ago.  Stayed at the Doubletree in Johnson City.  It had a sports bar downstairs.  Other than that, I'm blind.  Time to defer to the East Tenn Bobcat.

If you are coming from Athens take 33 out to 77south.  Take 77 to 81 south and you will get to Tennessee.  Then take I26 East to Johnson City.  It's 4 hours and 15 minutes from Athens to Bristol(where I live).  Add another 30 minutues to Johnson City.

The bar scene is ehh.  I always go to a place in downtown called Tipton Street pub.  2 dollar (good)pints on Tuesday nights.  As far as restaurants its the traditional scene.  Not too many great local places.  If you're looking for pizza try Johnny Bruscos.  It's pretty good.  My favorite place is a late night joint called the Mid City Grill.  It doesn't open till 11pm but its incredible.  It's where all the drunks go.

edit.  One I forgot....If you enjoy BBQ, check out the Firehouse BBQ.  It's located right near campus.  It's used to be an old (you guessed it)Firehouse and it has an old firetruck inside.  It's pretty dang good.

Hey! I am from Kodak, TN (about an hour away in Sevier County). I think me and my wife will be headed to the game. Do you know if you can just get tickets at the door?

Probably either West Virginia Tech or Glenville State.

Tickets will be available.  IF you have never seen pictures of our arena, it is pretty odd.  We play in a dome which used to contain our football field.  We dropped football in 2003 and only play basketball in it now.  It is a very odd and unfriendly basketball setup.  Some teams tend to shoot poorly in the dome because your depth preception gets thrown off.  Its kind of like playing in an airplane hanger.

If you travel through Knoxville, the greatest steak you will ever eat is at Ye Olde Steak House.

The winner of Ohio-ETSU will play the winner of Buffalo-Iona in one semifinal, while the winners of SMU-Northern Iowa and Santa Clara-San Francisco will meet in the other semifinal.

Whoever it's against, Marshall will be better than any team in that conference. And the game won't be close.

My roommate at OU moved to Johnson City after college. I also know someone who used to lived there. The Firehouse is always mentioned as the place to try if you visit there.

Meandered down here in 2days.

Lots pof good food if anyone is makng tghe trip. Stopped and hada Smashburger for kicks. BBQ place about 15  miles before Pikeville is a little white shack on the right side but well worth time to find and turn around if you saw it on the right side as  youwent by.

Gas prices start dropping about Allen KY but if you are smart you will buy cheap before ashland 3.59 and hold out till the VA TN line where it drops from 353 to 325 unexplicably.

I took 9 hours to go from Ashland to Johnson. City.... all the time I have been trekking to Ohio I hear the mantra about being inthe middle of Applachia. ....I am not so sure now... I actually got off 23 in pursuit of twisty road to throw my Civic Si around on and actually llanded in Appalachia Va. I saw a marked difference in what lies off the beaten path in say Gloucester vs the hollers and hills I saw off theroad in Eastern KY and WSestern VA. Egads it is poooor down here.

Cant wait to explaore the local food here and maybe get a look at the arena tomorrow.

Who is in this trip?

Oh yeah.

As soonas you cross the line from KY to VA remove your radar detector and prepare to see a swarm of troopers in the first 15 miles then again where the road construction comes in. SWARM as in 10 or more.

Just a freindly heads up
