Howland, Dustin, or Kelsey

I'll be happy with either of the 3.

Good riddance, JC.

Steve Masiello. Do we have a degree requirement? He can finish his degree here at Ohio.

What about Gary Waters? He has built a conistent winner at CSU, had success at Kent and is probably old enough to not chase another job at a big school ala Solich. I dont know if he would want to come here or not, but he is a proven winner in the state with good recruiting ties in NE ohio

That would be someone to consider. I'd like the next guy to stay a while and Waters/Gaudio/Fraschilla could fit that bill.

I WOULD LOVE GARY WATERS!!!  I have no doubt at all he'd succeed at Ohio.  However, he seems pretty invested at CSU and the city of Cleveland.  His only problem is that there's an absolute lack of interest in CSU basketball here right now-they can't draw fleas at their arena, which is as nice or nicer than Ohio's, truth be told.

I had never watched a Michigan football game in its entirety until RichRod left WVU to coach there.  After that I watched every UM game I could cheering for whoever was playing UM.

Likewise, I have never watched more than 10 minutes of a BC basketball game.  Now I may get the ACC Cable Network and will cheer for every BC opponent.   Go Duke, Go UNC, Go WF--go everyone but the Eagles.  Sorry, though I realize this is the nature of the business, I still don't have to like it.

Well, that was fast, eh JC?

So on to the next one. Put me in the group that wants a hot young assistant. I have no problem if that young coach gets hired away in 4 years, because we just move on to the next hot young assistant. That was my wish when Groce left, and begrudgingly accepted JC. So give me whoever is a young coach that can recruit and bring him in. And if he leaves in 4 years, guess what... we made a few NCAA tourneys and it makes it that much easier to hire the next guy.

I would expect JS to move quickly.  Bet he's on a plane to Big D right now.

Do you really think Howland is realistic?

How about Jeff Neubauer, head coach from Eastern Kentucky?

Haven't seen anyone mention Pat Kelsey. Born and raised in Cincinnati, assistant to Skip Prosser at Wake, former Assoc. HC at X, current HC at Winthrop. Currently making reported $175k at Winthrop.

Good name to consider, for sure.

I agree with what Arkley tweeted earlier - I bet there will be a press conference Wed. or Thursday of next week, at the latest, with the announcement.

How about hiring the Coach of Viking Magic, we would have a pipeline of recruits for the next decade. (TIC)

I can GUARANTEE that Ford, Boals or Holtmann will not be the next coach. Have any of you paid attention to JS's hires? Literally, I would bet my life's savings that it's not those guys.

The odds of getting a guy with D1 head coaching experience are high. My guess is a low-mid major coach (EKU, Robert Morris, etc.) as mentioned in some of the posts above.

I think you are right which is why I said above guys like Shrewsberry or similar. The RMU coach is an interesting move. I am not sure Nuebauer is a great hire. ....just a personal feeling.....more of the same and not advancing his brand as much as I thought he should.

I think Holtmann would ba  great hire but I also get why he is not the choice an shrewd AD like Shaus would make. More later. Gotta go.

Jeff Boals (Me and Gary Trent don't get the naysayers.)

Lavelle Moton (If Marshall doesn't get him first.  Dude can coach.)

This would truly be a Solich-type hire, with the added plus that he is from our region.  If memory is correct the D'Antoni's are from Cerdo Kenova.

I'm thinking we could give Saul Phillips a look. Here in Fargo it has been thought that he would leave after this year for awhile as he is graduating 6 seniors and the whole core of a team that won its first NCAA tournament game this year.

He is young and energetic. He comes from Bo Ryan's coaching tree.

edit: he is currently the head coach at NDSU and also interviewed at Ball State last year

Not to be a dick, but are you somehow related or associated to Coach Phillips? It just seems odd that a brand new poster out of nowhere brings up a name I hadnt heard anywhere else connected to the job. I do think he is a really good coach though and was impressed with the NDSU program in the tournament
