Just saw this on ESPN.com. Marc Stein did a power rankings for FIBA and talked about each team a bit:  http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post/_/id/2824/power-rankings-2014-world-cup-edition

The Minnesota Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng is the standout. Former NBAers Hamady Ndiaye and Seattle SuperSonics lottery draft bust Mohammed Saer Sene are on the roster, too. I've also been assured that Ohio University's Maurice Ndour is going to be studied closely by the NBA teams in attendance ... as long as he can force his way onto the floor.

He'll probably need to impress with his defense/rebounding.

Senegal leading Puerto Rico by one at the half.  Mo played 10 + minutes and scored 8 points.  Two dunks and two nice takes to the basket.  He is playing mostly on the perimeter.  A little sloppy at times, but that is something that can be said about the whole Senegal team.  All games are streamed on ESPN 3.

Scary moment when Mo got fouled in the act of shooting and went down, I believe on his hip. Gimpy getting up and was replaced at the free throw line. But he came back in the last minute. Huge win for Senegal.

Senegal wins 82-75.  Mo plays about 30 minutes and finished with 8 pts.  Fouled hard late in game and took some time to get up, bet coach Saul crapped a brick.

Asking because I honestly don't know the answer:

How does the NCAA eligibility rules work with N'Dour playing in this FIBA tourney while classes are in session?

Nice to see Mo in a green and white themed uni but shouldn't he be wearing his Bobcat uniform?

Mo might be enrolled in online classes this semester.  I know someone that was in a 400 level online class with DJ and Ivo.  IF he's enrolled and in good standing it shouldn't be a problem.

US basketball used to be exclusively college players. I'm sure it works somehow.

Senegal upset Croatia today for its second straight win. Ndour missed his only shot attempt, had two steals, one rebound, two turnovers and two fouls. He had a rebound on Croatia's attempt to tie the game with a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left.

the announcers before the game vs Puerto Rico said PR and Senegal had faced each other 4 times in history and PR won all 4 by an average of 25pts. These wins are a big deal for Senegal.

Down tick in minutes have anything to do with him being sore following the hard fouls last game or was it a matchup thing?

This is a huge win for Senegal. Very good chance they advance from group play now!

I'm fairly sure the minutes had to do with his injury, although it was a bit odd.  They mentioned in pre-game his hip was sore following the foul in game 2.  But he also started...perhaps it was one of those things where they planned to play him early and not let him tighten up.  I'm not sure.

To be honest, he was a bit hobbled and not as effective in game 3 during his starting minutes.  Badji came in and provided a bit of a boost for a few minutes.

He basically sat from late in the 1st quarter until the end of the game when foul trouble presented issues for Senegal.  He looked much better in the last 2 minutes than his starting run, IMO.

Do basketball players wear some sort of light pads over their hip areas?  They certainly oughta given the activity of the game, the significant chance of falling hard on hip or tush.

Yeah, I always thought something akin to soccer goalie shorts would make sense in a sport where taking charges and such is so commonplace.

Senegal played Argentina this morning and lost 81-46. NDour played 24 minutes and was 1/4 (1/1 from 3) with 6pts, 3reb. G Dieng lead the team with 11pts, 8reb in 35 minutes. Senegal shot 32% and Mo's 3pt was the only make for the team on 12 attempts. Argentina shot 45%, 43% from 3 and out rebounded Senegal 41-29. Next game is Thursday vs Philippines.

Has anyone seen any of the games?  How does Mo look?  How is he being used?  Is he any heavier/stronger?  What is he doing that's effective?  Thanks.

Mo has had good energy, playing hard. vs PR he had two fast break hammer dunks. On one the announcer yells "Women and Children first!!".

The biggest issue seems to me, in my uneducated opinion, is the team doesn't seem to have a game plan. Lots of standing around, lots of dribbling and firing up 3s, not a lot of passing. Don't seem to have any true guards, they're all variations of Mo- big, lanky guys that can run and jump that aren't afraid to shoot from the outside but probably should be.

I would agree with the above summary.  I didn't think Mo looked comfortable like he does in our offense.  He played significant minutes against Argentina with a pass first mentality.
