Only BG, Central and Western are below 5,500 in capacity.

It didn't look like 11k today, but maybe it filled in after tip. Some day I'm gonna do the work to count the seats in a segment to make an actual attendance guess.

We were unable to be there today but I have 4 season tickets, so I guess I was counted as being there. I think it counts since I listened to the game and told, at least, 3 other people what was going on.

Go Bobcats!!!!!

Shocking that Kent's awful gym sits more that 5,500.

Awesome picture!!

I have to think this will be by far the largest crowd of the season-Dad's Weekend typically is.

Love the final shot in this gallery with Saul and the students. He seems to be really happy here and our fan base seems to really embrace him.

Dad's weekend is always one of the biggest crowds but I am very optimistic about the crowds for this season. We have had a fair share of crowds over 10k the past 5 years and there seems to be a lot of excitement for both Saul Ball and this team with us bringing back high profile names like NDOUR and ST.

A lot of the better MAC games fall on weekdays but we also have a lot of Saturday OOC games. Next week should be a great crowd.

ta;ked to a custodian hee at the hospital who had 2 kids graduate OHIO. he talked about Dads weekend in the middle of February and it falling on an important MAC contest. He insisted it was Miami every year but I can't hardly see that happening.....

Anywsy he did Court Street and the game with his kids every year in the cold of winter (as did I) and was thankful that the cold kept the testosterone levels at a low boil. great conversation here in the rehab unit

Sunday morning reaction:

We played in pre-season form. I was disappointed with the lack of order to our offensive sets, but what should I really be expecting? There was a lot of 1-on-1 and we lacked any sort of rotation. Mo stalled and it was seemingly the ST & Bean show in the 1st half. Biggest takeaway from the first 20 minutes was that we didn't seem concerned we were down to Marietta by about 10 pts. (Don't know if that's good or bad.)

Second half Mo woke up, Stevie played a more traditional pass-first point and if Bean was open he took the shot (and by looking at the stats, missed a lot). I was ok with the way we played in the 2nd, and wished that the 1st half was more like the last.

Treg: Looked like mid-season Treg in the 1st, a bit awkward but an ok spell guy. The 2nd he came alive and showed the type of offensive play many of us expect. He took a couple coast-to-coast, had good control of his body and positioning (while still a bit awkward), and more importantly got to the line. If he can make opportunities for himself to score from the stripe, while getting some defenders in trouble, he'll be an important asset to to controlig the flow of the game.

The Freshmen: Looked like freshmen, but can also play. The key for them is how quickly do they adjust to college speed, and ensure they are in the right place at the right time. They both had situations in the 2nd where they were out of position on box outs and collapsed too hard on help D leaving open shots for a good shooting team.

Saul: Didn't watch him as much as I wanted to, but was surprised at how much he argued over a timing issue/error at the end of the first. I thought he was easy going and let stuff roll of his back? He's gonna get Teed up once this season, and I hope it's a positive one. Should be interesting to see how he and the officials interact.

Overall Experience: O Zone was in preseason form as well, was quiet most of the 1st half, but stepped it up in the 2nd.
The cheerleaders seem to have moved in front of them instead of the baseline, which can only be a good thing to keep everyone going. I'm expecting big thing from them if this move is permanent.

Concessions were a mess and saw long lines at the half through about 5 mins in to the 2nd. Ugh. Aren't those volunteers? We're the concessions on the student side open? If not, who failed there.

Hand dryers. Need I say more.

The Blue parking lot was full 20 mins before the start of the game? Really? Also, I assume the 50 or so spots that are chained off by the softball & baseball fields are for our own HR ball protection? I got creative and weaved my way around West Green and parked in the Walter Hall lot. No cop at Richland and Shafer/S Green Drive was fun too. Interesting to see if that cluster continues throughout the season.

My reactions after watching the game:

1. Impressed with the freshmen. I thought Taylor looked a bit overwhelmed at times but Laster looked smooth. Both will crash the boards and both have confidence. They will only get better.
2. Mo looked like he was holding back. I don't mind for an exhibition. Would love him to come out with a double-double against Appy State.
3. Stevie and Bean need to distribute a little more.
4. Treg is my favorite player by far. And he looks leaner and stronger. He's going to be an 8 and 6 guy this year, mark it.
5. Tony looked slow. I REALLY hope he comes around.
6. Wadley looked lost at times. Once again I hope it was exhibition jitters. I didn't see a lot of help defense from him. With his size he needs to get boards and blocks.
7. I really hope Harley comes to play this year. Losing Wingfield was bad. Saw him in high school and he was legit. Need Khari and Chandler Thomas to give at least 5 to 10 good hustle minutes a game.
8. I came away a bit worried but have to remind myself it's only an exhibition and Marietta had more motivation than we did.

Does Harley really even exist?

Marietta was fun to watch. Got right in Ohio's face the whole game and deserved to win.

My Bobcats looked incredibly slow on both ends of the court. Outside of Stevie Taylor, Marietta had not problem handling our quickness/speed.

Not a good day.

Was fun to see a jam packed Convo. The band was rocking. Concession were packed but seemed to move quickly to me.

Also - there was a recruit in attendance. Tall and lanky.

Marietta played better fundamental basketball. The Cats looked uninspired and frankly, I thought outcoached. The Cats were slow with average movement with the ball. They were outhustled, they didn't follow shots and in-spite of the height advantage didn't attack the boards. Unless they right the ship it will be a very disappointing season.

The Marietta team played inspired basketball and made their coach look good. In fact a few of us in the reserved seats thought perhaps we hired the wrong coach.

If a few of you thought we hired the wrong coach, it was very few. Very, very few.

Agree that Stevie and Bean need to concentrate more on distributing the ball. Guys have to move, though.

As for offensive sets, I don't think we will be running too many sets. Saul's offense is a motion offense with only a few set plays. It will get better with time.

We will be hugely better when Campbell comes to play. He seemed out of sync yesterday.

As for the freshmen not getting out to cover the three point shooters, Saul took responsibility for that. Said he told the guards to crash the boards.

Lot of good summaries above.

Harley - I believe he had an injury he was just a day or so ago allowed to even start playing again.

Motion offense - requires motion.

VS Zone defense - Deja Vu all over again. I think we need to practice 5 vs 6 man zone.
