Does anyone have a link to the post-game press conference? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

The cheerleaders seem to have moved in front of them instead of the baseline, which can only be a good thing to keep everyone going. I'm expecting big thing from them if this move is permanent.
I've been harping on this for years. Hope it is permanent as well.

I didn't see it..saw only the recap on ohiobobcats, but: I hereby panic immensely that we were down in the first half. From the vidcast, commitment to defense in at least some cases was 'casual.'

Setty is one of those herky-jerky guys whose style is effective because difficult to counter.

Do our rookie guards play defense? Tall guards who play D work for me.

3ball is so key these days and we gotta replace Kellogg (money) along with Wilkins.

Very nice attendance yesterday...juiced by Marietta fans attending?...Winning in exciting ways begets attendance (apologies for football tangential remark).

Thanks for the overviews - some good, some bad. Without having any idea what the coaching staff wanted to see, there is no need to be concerned or panic. It is an exhibition game, aka a glorified scrimmage. Work players in, try different approaches, get guys comfortable. Winning going away does little good for either team.

These type of results are common in exhibition games. A good example is the result of the Augustana-Bradley game yesterday. Bradley lost. Southern Maine also defeated Maine.

Seemed like no energy in the first half. Marietta beat us to all the loose balls, all the hustle plays seemed to go their way. The effort seemed a lot better in the second half, higher intensity level, much better rebounding. I thought Bean forced his offense a little in the second half, and the team as a whole took some ill-advised shots. It will get better.

official announced attendance #?

was it really 11,108?

If so, that might be more than the other 3 MAC Exhibition games today, combined
The Jim Christian era at BC kicked off Thursday night with an exhibition win over AIC in front of 300 dedicated fans. Tickets were free to the public.

Everybody must've been in Durham, NC to watch the field hockey team beat Syracuse in the ACC tourney.

I'll add some thoughts from what I saw on Saturday against Marietta:

I'm not yet sure this team has been together enough, and is healthy enough to really get an idea of who they'll be. Harley and Thomas were expected to play a lot back in the summer, and neither have been able to practice a lot yet from what I understand. Add Tony Campbell recovering from a little injury, and I believe we'll see a very different team in a handful of weeks.

Like others, my bigger concern was the amount of standing, & lack of motion in a motion offense. I'm sure that will gradually improve. I was very impressed with Bean, as well as Setty & Laster. Mo is Mo, and he'll be great this year. Stevie is really one that I have concerns over. I hope the issues with him having a small injury don't carry over. We need him on the floor.

I'm anxious to see what this group looks like over the next couple games as Harley and Thomas get into the rotation, and Campbell starts to work into form.

Thomas has had normal practice time.

Stevie was cramping up.

Agree that when Thomas can play, it will be a huge help.

Also, when Campbell comes to play, we will be a much better team.

The issue with Thomas is not related to injury. By every account I've seen, he is healthy and in great shape.

We are still awaiting official written verification from Grambling that Thomas has graduated. Once that is received, he will be eligible.

Between that and the NCAA's delay with the Kaminski ruling.... geez people, can we do our jobs in a timely manner?

Where is Jeff McKinney or Fake Jeff to comment on the prowess of the Marietta Pioneers, Ohio's oldest sports rivalry? We first played them in football in 1894 in a game at the Athens Fairgrounds and lost by an embarrassing score of 8-0. Those Pioneers have always played tough against the Bobcats. They should never be overlooked. It's said in old lore that the ghost of Rufus Putnam watches over these games and has a split loyalty. He must have been giving the basketball karma to Marietta in the first half with all those made threes. Only logical explanation! ;-)

I grew up being a huge fan of the Pios and attending quite a few games in the old Ban Johnson Fieldhouse. Started going to their games when our own Alex Couladis was still on the team.

As someone else posted on here, Marietta played at OU back in 1977. Marietta's Mitch Miracle single handedly kept Marietta in the game with his long shots...of course, that was before the three point shot. Ohio ended up barely edging out the Pioneers, 69-67. I remember well that game because it was my first game in the Convo (freshman that year), and also because it's the only time I've ever rooted against the Bobcats. I guess you can forgive me for an indiscretion committed some 37 years ago.

What's the statute of limitations for rooting against the Bobcats? 10 years? 20? infinity?

I guess karma caught up with me that night, bobcatsquared. On Schafer St on the way out I rear ended a car ahead of me...then had to drive home and explain that to my Dad, who happened to be in the hospital at the time.

Thanks, Jeff, I feel much better now that you've commented on the game and told us about that narrow escape "back in the day." Old Rufus would be proud! ;-) BTW, for what it is worth, I'm a graduate of Rufus Putnam Elementary School. It's not true, however, that my third grade teacher was Ephraim Cutler.
