Does it matter? Hes back by MAC play. Until there is equality with non academic qualifiers schools like Kant and Kron hav3 an advantage. Im all for second chamces but the fact that Tree got a fifth year and Ricardo didnt is rediculous. Rico was a model student with whom we win the mac. He should have gotten another year.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The tolerance for this kind of thing (depending on details) has changed considerably in the last year.

It was an altercation that led to her receiving apparently minor injuries. The police got involved, but it doesn't say if she's asked the DA to press charges. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/men-s-basketball-player-d...

Yeah, he'll probably be back by Jan 1.

I think I read today in the story of the Michigan player getting the boot for assaulting his girlfriend that in Ohio it isn't up the victim because so many victims are afraid or unwilling to press charges. The DA will determine if their is enough evidence to warrant prosecution.

This is typical of Akron to have a player get in trouble early in the season -- meaning it'll have a lousy non-conference record and drag down the rest of the league -- and then reinstate the guy come Jan. 1 so the team will roll through league play. Seems like it's happened a few times this way.

This guy is too talented, so I predict the school will find a way to get him back on the court. Convict U.'s basketball team is alive and well.

I thought the Ozone was hard on him last year. This year they're going to have a field day.

Reading this thread, it just seems to me that it could have been written a few months ago--'kron was bound to have this type of problem...this year and most others.

Yep you know it's the start of Basketball Season when Akron starts the suspensions. Akron should add this to their player stat lines: # of suspensions. It really would be helpful in keeping track of them, they all seem to run together after a while.

But they beat USC by 20 pts at the Charleston Classic. Maybe Treadwell has been holding them back.

USC also lost to Portland State by 10 and squeaked by Tennessee Tech. They're not very good...

Actually, they should get creative and have all of the young women who are members stand in the front rows. I don't care if the girl is an O Zone member. If she's a student, get her down there in front. Hold up signs about assault. I'm serious.

Akron fans are telling themselves its because Akron holds its student athletes to a higher standard than other schools and that's why you hear about their players getting suspended more often. One fan likened the Zips to BYU in that regard. Seriously.

Meanwhile Ohio just suspended two players for committing the unforgivable crime of playing basketball in the summer.
It really is humorous they think they are running some squeaky clean program. I mean, come on, Dambrot has consistently recruited guys who end up with criminal records by the time they leave Akron. The only program in the MAC with a recent history of recruiting more convicts is Kent.
Speaking of Dambrot, his son is on the Akron soccer team and his penalty kick was stopped to give Ohio state a win in the record 15th round of a shootout in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament.

Is that guy in the orange getting smacked in the face by someone from Memphis? That's pretty crazy!

As a technical point, if he's still not enrolled later in the season, can he still be suspended?

I ask because suspension seems to be a service that 'kron regulary provides for its players.

I played against that kid in high school and hated him. Kid has the loudest mouth. Pretty close to Coopers

There is a story that seems to indicate Akron has moved on as far as he and the others they had trouble with.

What a load of crap.

He had to recruit knuckleheads to keep up with Kent State?

Dan Peters was an enabler to have have knuckleheads around because he worked for Bob Huggins?

He's a poor, poor man's Calipari, selling snake oil.

What are the chances Dambrot arranged this? 500%?

They could've used him yesterday; Middle Tennessee came into the JAR and won.
