What a fun game to watch so far!

Did we see the play of the year already?!! What a putback by Ryan Taylor!

I'm sorry with the game on the line we are playing YMCA at the convo. I'm sorry we need to do a lot better for fan experience and to get our players pumped. That's pathetic

Great game. I picked the right one to finally see. Bummer of an ending, though. I bet we guard the inbounder next time.

Half of the crowd from 8 to 80 was dancing, including the Mrs...I liked it.

We just witnessed one of the all time great offensive performances in the history of the Convo by Bradshaw.

Definite improvement tonight by the Cats. Only 2 turnovers??!?!?!?!

4 games into the season and we've already had two opposing players have their career best nights against us. Reminds me of 2012 when Robert Morris had that kid come out of nowhere and go 10/10, 8/8 from 3 for 28pts and then a couple of games later a guard for UMass put 35pts. I don't like it.

True. IMO, Belmont is way better than that RMU team though.

As much as I wanted to see a win tonight, I was pleased to see Stevie get it going and the team perform at a high level offensively. 3 point defense will no doubt be a thing to work on in the coming weeks but, I'm not sure there was much we could do to stop Bradshaw. He hit some high degree of difficulty shots both from outside and down low.
Like Jeff said, 2 turnovers was pretty amazing. When is the last time we did that? I may do some digging later to see if it's been done in recent history, time permitting...

GO BOBCATS!

Per STATSHEET.com, our lowest turnover games in recent history (Statsheet only goes back to 2000) are:
5 vs Toledo during the 2012 - 2013 season
5 vs Marshall during the 2001 - 2002 season
5 against Miami during the 2000 - 2001 season.

There were a smattering of games at 6 and 7 but, nothing less than 5. Until yesterday, anyways.

I hope so. Bradshaw brought the ball up uncontested until he was at full speed past half court when a stationary R. Taylor tried to pick him up. I understand going with Taylor as he has good arm length to defend the shot, but I would have preferred Bean pestering him all the way.

Anyway, good effort by the Cats. Makes me more optimistic about the season. But let's start the players who play most of the game and are on the court at crunch time. Enough of the slow starts.

that RM team won 24 games, lost at Xavier by 2, and beat Kentucky in the NIT. They were pretty good.

Question for those with bball IQs higher than mine (which is 99 percent of this board): Why not guard the ball very tightly on that last possession for Belmont? Tell the guys that a foul early is better than letting them have an easy shot. If we foul with eight seconds or so, even if they make both foul shots, we have a reasonable amount of time to set something up. .2 seconds is all but impossible from full court.

Don't foul, but pick up the ballhandler fullcourt to eat up some time. Seemed Bradshaw dribbled 3/4 court before being picked up with a full head of steam.

Taylor should have been guarding Bradshaw taking the ball out of bounds. Three guys at half court and one guy at the foul line. Let Bradshaw get return pass forcing him up the sidelines into a double team. At least it would slow him down to take off more time. Hopefully he has to pass, taking more time off. I'll take my chances with someone else shooting instead of the hottest guy on the planet. Now I'm no defensive guru, but i have stayed at a Holiday Inn.

There was only 0:06.9 left on the clock when they inbounded the ball. Nobody in their right mind would foul when the other team has to go the entire length of the court in 6 seconds with the game tied. Saul said in the postgame show that they assumed Bradshaw would come off a screen. They were caught off guard when he got the ball right back and dribbled the entire length of the court. Either way, it was poor defense on him all night that cost the Cats the game. I assume they'll get better defensively and I look forward to an entertaining season.

Really disappointing end to a fun game to watch. The Bobcats showed a lot of heart and hustle, which is all I ask. I'm happy with the performance of the guys..

I don't understand the last 6 seconds of the game. I am not a Division 1 college basketball coach, but you have to know when the star is inbounding the ball, he's gonna get it right back.. That's why a lot of schools have their point guard inbound the ball.. I thought we should have called a timeout when we saw how they set up so that we could set up a counter defense.

ANYWAY.. It's in the past.. Time to move on. A lot of positives to be taken from that game.. Let's build off of it.. Go Cats!

There is not one person on this board given 20 shots could have made the shot he made. He went right at our bigs and shot over/around them. The kid is tough and I'd love to have him as a Bobcat.

I was able to make a trip down to Athens last night and watched from the student section. (Sidebar- I love going to games when school is not in session because of this)

It was an entertaining game and I was glad to see Stevie get his mojo back. It really bothered me how little our guards did to get N'Dour into the game in the first half. This seems to be a trend early on in the season, and N'Dour was showing a lot of frustration with his teammates.

Other observations - Tony isn't healthy yet. Setty seems to be finding his way in this new system, Wadley looks like he will be a contributor in the future. Ryan Taylor and Laster have a nice skill set and don't look like freshmen on the floor. I think this year may be a bit rough but we have a lot of building blocks for the future.

Fantastic game, I also took the opportunity for the seat upgrade to the Ozone.

- Bradshaw was absolutely incredible, I can't recall a better performance by an opponent. He looked so damn good with the ball. We win by 20+ without him in the game. If you missed it, watch this video and see some of the shots and moves this kid made - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M708S9U6NyQ
- Bradds did not impress me much. He seemed OK and a nice player to have on the roster, but not the kind of lost recruit that makes you weep tears every time you see mention of him (grumble grumble Levert stomp stomp)
- 2 turnovers? I see that we had 6, and feel like there is no way we had less than 5. But even with 6, we kept much better care of the ball.
- I am president of the Tony Campbell fan club, but he has to take less 3 balls. Wide open on the wing (like the one that he made) and/or late in the shot clock? Sure. Otherwise, he needs to get in that paint because he's awesome in there.
- Treg with 3 fouls in 15 minutes, and a couple nice plays and energy boost. This is him, and those that thought his role would be much different are proven to be mistaken.
- Ryan Taylor's mid-range jumper will long be revered by Bobcats fans. Usually when a player goes up for a should-be-able-to-make-it jumper like that, I brace myself for being disappointed, but not with Ryan.
- No mention yet of Ryan Taylor's put back dunk at a crucial point late in the game? Holy Moly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O81Z-yZMyFY
- Bean & Stevie recovered and played well.
- I rarely complain about the refs, but the foul on Ndour to send Bradshaw to the line with 2 to go was garbage, all ball and the ref blew the whistle before the play was even over.
- I like how Bean forgot about chewing clock and took the high percentage drive to the basket with 30ish seconds to go, just shocked that he missed it.
- Also not upset he scored with 7 seconds still to go. I hate when teams just stand at the key and let the clock wind down then hurry and force some bad shot.
- And lastly, not (too) upset about the defense on the final play. They would've gotten the ball to him going up the court no matter what, there was plenty of time for him to shake free. Ryan let him get by but forced him outside, Treg was in position and he let a ridiculous floater go and it went in (of course). Had Ndour not fouled out, I am not so sure that ball would've ever found the backboard.
- I thought attendance was pretty good for T-give weekend. The place would have been hopping down the stretch if not on break. I felt bad for coach who tried to pump up the crowd to little avail a couple times.

I'm not down with everyone saying this year could be rough, I think by MAC play we will be playing some pretty good ball.

I am surprised nobody mentioning Setty getting shoved from the rebound on Bean's drive at the end. Setty was ready to go up and get it/put back and just plain got shoved OOB's - no call.

dissapointing to watch the Belmont highlight film on Youtube. Kid was left wide open, not Adjusted to on screens and was not picked up or turned at the end. If a guy is right handed all night and is coming at you why would you not step over and try to turn him? Unimpeded down the right side of the lane. Atrocious.

Borna, one of those basics kids just don't get nowadays. Make the play predictable by shifting your feet over and making the kid go to his weak side?

Speaking of basics, curious about your observations on stuff we always did in middle school: Only six plus seconds to go, guard the in-bounder with a big and pressure the ball-handler all the way up the court? This seems like basic defense in that situation? Why would you let the ball-handler, their best player, to dribble to the right and be uncontested all the way to mid court?

Other than the end, it was a great game to watch. I think this team will be ok come March!

Untrue. The simplest of scouts is going to include what way a particular player likes to go. I've seen practices where they went over how and where to force a particular player to go a particular way.
