At the 3:52 mark in the 1st half the score was 37-23 and we were clearly in control. The score at the half was 38-33, BG made a 10-1 run to end the 1st half. We never righted the ship after that. So we played 16 minutes of good BB tonight and just mailed the remaining 24 minutes in.
In conclusion;
Tony gets into foul trouble, our D was soft. End of discussion.

It wasn't just our D. Everything was soft. As I shared on the chat board, BG came into our house and stole our lunch money and we had no response.

Just when you think KK is going to get hot, he misses his last 86 shots. and he misses so badly.

I thought KK was effective when he drove. He settles too much. We wasted an outstanding half from Wad and Khari. BGSU didnt just steal our lunch money. They stole our girl (Convo) and then took our money. I am scared to death of Kent away Saturday.

Did any of you catch on TV (long before the bench incident) when Harley was checking in and walking on to the court and BG's number 3 was heading out, he gave Harley a glancing body slam? Didn't look like anyone was around as if a crowd narrowed Parker's path to cause the collision. Looked like a move to intimidate or get a retaliation from Harley.

I was meaning to say something Brick..you might want to find a safe house because youre probably wanted for murder.

Great Ron Burgundy lines. You made me forget this stinker for at least a minute!

Yep. Seems like BGSU got away with those little things whole game while we got ticky tack. And jaaron was killed all night because refs see his strength and let him get hammered.

Ohio University should not lose to Bowling Green State University in anything. Let's dominate these fools.
Why exactly?? Because we feel entitled?? Ohio hasn't even been on the same planet as BG in football and has simply been destroyed in a few of the last four meetings. And BG just won for the third straight year under a third different coach in the Convo. Maybe it's BG that shouldn't lose to Ohio in anything.

stat oddity- Bowling Green is the only MAC program we have losing record against. I wouldn't have guessed that.

.744 Buffalo (29-10)
.662 EMU (47-24)
.659 Kent St (91-47)
.646 NIU (31-17)
.625 CMU (45-27)
.564 Ball St (44-34)
.548 Toledo (68-56)
.531 Miami (104-92)
.508 WMU (65-63)
.500 Akron (37-37)
.467 BGSU (65-74)
I would....hated going up there and getting our ashes beat. TOS shrugged, JG was frustrated....ack. Frozen flat and not fun
It wasn't any more fun the last three times in the hills either. SMH

In the 40+ years I've been going to games in the Convo, that was one of the oddest games I've seen, from start to finish.

But what really bugged me (besides our inability to box out) was that when we could really use the Ozone, they provide almost nothing.

Embarrassing all the way around.

Refs were embarrassing how long it took to sort out the non-fight...nearly 15 minutes?!?! C'mon.

Embarrassing effort on defense...so many easy baskets for BG....they make one dribble and blow right by....and Ohio was so lazy...30 fouls?!?

18 offensive rebounds for BG. Even Saul said in postgame they just flat missed box outs. Embarrassing.

No life once BG made their run. Really question on-court leadership. Where's the heart? They just go lifeless...very much like at NIU.

Zero offensive rhythm....just look lost when they don't work the ball around.

MAC scouting report on Ohio:

Simple, get Antonio Campbell in foul trouble. Take the ball right at him and force him to play defense. He gets lazy and commits bad fouls that pile up....and while Ohio's "defense" is almost laughable with him in....it's a full blown dumpster fire when he's out. And they have ZERO interior offense when he's out and they just settle for bad jumper after bad jumper.

I know this team is young, so some of this isn't surprising. But what's disappointing is that we're staring down a 2nd straight losing season. Do we feel confident they can go better than 5-10 the rest of the way? That would put them at 15-15. I'm not so sure. The inconsistencies are just too much.

Just hard to wrap head around when there appears to be really good talent in spots (Ndour last year...Simmons & Campbell this year)...that talent should be good enough to go .500 in MAC? Right?

I really like Saul...REALLY like him...but doubts are creeping in. I want him so badly to be the guy....but these efforts are disappointing.

Bowling Green has exceeded expectations since losing their coach and experiencing a major shakeup. A somewhat weak OOC schedule has helped, but this team has scrapped anD made themselves respectable.

They are a slashing team offensively and they kick it out for threes. Defensively, they are quick.

I'd say the keys are keeping Tony on the floor and closing out on three point shooters.

Ozone should be renamed Nozone. Or DozZone.

When they do decide to wake up - Start up distracting "OU/Oh Yeah" chants right as WE get possession - MULTIPLE Times - Friggin' CLUELESS about 6th man and when/how to impact a game..........amateur/no impact student section these days.........

1. Refs sucked. Yes MAC refs always suck, but it was ridiculous tonight - both ways.
2. SP blew the game last 8 or so minutes H1. We had foul trouble, so did BG. We went pretty much ALL BENCH. When we were up 13 or so we should have gone DAGGER - but went conservative. I put that on SP.
3. Bench sucked. Missed Block here for sure. A player I will not by name call out - Well, a frosh - He has a Long Way To Go before I want to see him coming off the bench again (when does he ever NOT get beat off the dribble, turnovers galore, even tripped over his own shoes with no opposing player within 10 feet of him at one point tonight)

Hopefully this is the ugliest we see for the year.

First of all, Ohio did not at all play well enough to win, but the officiating decision with the technical fouls and then the foul calls after that were crazy.

Poor officiating of the last four minutes, frankly less then appropriate sportsmanship by the BG bench in effectively running over Simmons rather than helping him up with their own guy. The way it was handled closed the deal for BG. They played a far better second half, but the officials handed them 6 free throws in the final minutes. Just poor if you ask me on the part of the BG folks in that instance.

Harley had a solid game off the bench -- would LOVE to see him start hitting the mid-range pull up like he did tonight. I just want him to eat about a dozen burgers every night and get up early in the AM to lift and work on core strength.

what happened to those revenge games? Those were some heated affairs with that schmuck Hopson as an asst coach egging his kids on with dirty play. Need to go back up there and take one away. These frosh got a bad taste that should return every meeting.

Refs didn't lose this game for Ohio. Ohio lost it. Hats off to BG, they completely outplayed OU after they fell way behind. Yeah they got several free throws after the situation by the bench but they just hit the three and were fouled and were still in control. Someone needs to talk to Doug Taylor and tell him he's not in grade school anymore and to grow up. He walked through the handshakes at the end with his hands behind his back. Childish. You're in college now, suck it up and stop pouting. But I gotta say, I got a huge kick out of the fat kid they showed getting all worked up. Three times he made it on to TV and each time it was priceless. Loved his passion though, I've felt that way many times myself.

Surprised Taylor did that - I could not see that. Fuss Emphatically gave the bench direction go thru the handshake line with class well before game end.

Refs of course did not "lose the game" for Ohio. But they did "impact the game" - significantly - outside of, and a LOT before the rukus late second half. They sucked on both sides of the court - but sure looked to me like we did not get the typical and expected home advantage (if you do not think that home advantage is expected - then validate that opinion with facts).

BG did out hustle us from about 8 minutes to go H1 thru the balance of the game. I put the onus on SP - we blew it last 8 minutes H1 when it was dagger time and we put all our best ammo (not just one, or two, or three, but four and often all five!) on the bench.

About? I'm guessing KK. Well, he missed his last 5 three attempts (86???). You and "GO" might find validation of that in the game stats. We also stopped seeing a lot of ball and bodies movement, guard penetration-kick-out, off screen rolls, reverse motion/ball, etc., to open KK up with space after the first couple minutes......

First off, BG had all the momentum in the 2nd half, so even without the "scrum" I don't think Ohio wins last night. There was no rotation on defense, nobody checking out backside, nobody stepping into driving or passing lanes and absolutely no movement on offense. Saul said at the beginning of the year the defense is gonna be something Ohio needs to work on. It's proving more and more relevant.

But let's talk about that scrum for a second. The refs can't have it both ways here.

-Three Ohio players were given technical fouls because they entered the BG bench area. Saul said in the post game he teaches his guys to help their teammates off the floor when they fall down. Simmons was literally buried under about 5 BG players.

-Not a single punch was thrown. Nobody was shoved to a point of falling down. One of the referees was inadvertently hit with an elbow, so I'm guessing that's where the one BG player got a tech? I don't know. They didn't really explain why the BG player got one and I can't wait to hear what the MAC office says.

-The rule book supposedly states that if players leave the bench area during a fight, then those players are to be given technical fouls. The refs explained to Saul that no punches were thrown and nobody was shoved, so there was no fight, hence why no other BG players got technical fouls.

And that's where IMO the refs messed this whole thing up. You can't call the techs on the Ohio players and then not call some on BG. The refs said it themselves, it wasn't a fight. So why are there even any technicals at all?

Setty, Harley, and Kaminski were not going over to the BG bench with any malicious intent whatsoever. They were just trying to get Simmons off the floor. That's a technical foul? I get it, that's the rule book saying you can't go to a team's bench area. But that rule has to be interpreted differently in this situation.

And the fact it took almost 15 minutes to sort it out was even worse. Did the PA announcer even say what was going on? Did the crowd get an explanation? Reghi over the broadcast just announced the technicals but they didn't really go into detail about it.

Like I said, can't wait to see what the MAC office says about this one, if anything.

This game was lost in the end of the first half. I called it when I said this is a dangerous lineup we have on the floor. No offense. Campbell, Kaminski, and Dartis all sitting due to the fouls. The 14 point lead fell to 5 and the momentum was completely gone.
