Assuming Block is a no-go does this mean we finally get to see Mike Laster play some meaningful minutes this year?

With Block out, it will probably mean more minutes for Harley, Galon, maybe Laster. We might also see the 'cats go "big" with two of our 5's in there if match-ups will allow.
Someone will have to step up to replace the defensive effort that Gavin brings to this bunch. He will be seriously missed if he is out for any length of time.

If I were to guess, I would say that the coaching staff considers Harley and Laster to be better defenders than Gavin. But Gavin brings a lot more on the other end than the other two seem to from my perspective. He's definitely a better perimeter shooter. I'm just hoping he doesn't have any ligament damage, muscle tears, or anything like that. Those seem to be long, difficult recoveries.

I'm tired of losing basketball and football games to BG. Ohio University should not lose to Bowling Green State University in anything. Let's dominate these fools.

That's backwards from my way of thinking. I dunno why white guys get that rap. They play in gaps, help weak side, step over and take charges....create a presence yet they never get credit for their defense. Seems like a more aggressive, more athletic appearing guy will be seen as a better defender. gavin is a guy who makes the right pass, sees where the ball is supposed to go on O and covers holes and missed assignments on D. His loss, if so, will hurt the Cats in intangible ways.

I would love to see Tony and Wadley together for a spell. It couldn't hurt to have some high-low action with the two and it would give Tone some opportunities to step out more. Rebounding would be great from those two. I don't know why we keep seeing the same sub pattern. Wadley for Tony, Block for Setty/Kaminski, Harley for Dartis..it seems like we need some more mixing. Either way, we need a dominating game for once in the MAC.

I hear you. I'm going off of things I've heard Saul say about Harley and Laster in the past in terms of their strengths. Gavin's intangibles, as you say, will definitely be missed along with his perimeter shooting and passing.

I agree in basketball. I'd really like to see OUr team get over the hump of BG being a tough place for us to play. It seems like they've given us fits for awhile during a time that, other than last year, they haven't been too terribly good. In football, until Frank & Co get beeter at the QB position, I can't see how we should expect to dominate BG there. But that's for the football board.

I agree, but I fear the risk of both getting in foul trouble might be too great. Any high/low action is good.

Borna this is a bit of a generalization of white guy contribution. In Block's case I would agree completely with this offensive assessment except that on Saturday Jaaron was screaming at him on offense as he wasn't making the right cut for the play Jaaron had called. Hadn't noticed that before, but I also don't usually sit in the Ozone. His loss is going to hurt, no doubt.

Tone and Wadley were on the floor together on Saturday in the second half, it was nice to see. I'm guessing Tone's foul situation (none!) made it a possibility?

Speaking of Jaaron directing traffic, I was sittin at floor level for Saturday only and he was getting on several guys a lot and being a floor general. He does more of that than we've seen in awhile at Ohio.

I agree. Block has had not been consistent - on both sides of the court - and as a frosh to be somewhat expected.

You mean yelling, "Pass me the ball and let me shot" isn't being a floor general? ;-)

Bowling Green has exceeded expectations since losing their coach and experiencing a major shakeup. A somewhat weak OOC schedule has helped, but this team has scrapped anD made themselves respectable.

They are a slashing team offensively and they kick it out for threes. Defensively, they are quick.

I'd say the keys are keeping Tony on the floor and closing out on three point shooters.

First of all, Ohio did not at all play well enough to win, but the officiating decision with the technical fouls and then the foul calls after that were crazy.

Nice job Bobcats this team totally lost its cool tonite after blowing a 14 pt lead at home. This wasn't the officials fault or Bowling Green's fault. Our players lost total control tonite. Hope this lites a fire into this team. Team was asleep until fight.

I felt like we had a lead and Saul sat some of our key guys instead of pounding them. Should have rolled the dice on foul trouble. Let BG back in as Gollon, Taylor and Laster were absolutely horrible on offense and Jaaron was tired. And I will NEVER fault OUr guys for rescuing a fallen soldier in the other teams bench. Egg at KSU is quite possible.
