We are still favored despite the injury reports, by 1.5 points. I said it for the EMU game and will again for Kent - The over/under number (144) looks awfully low to me.

I think you're all wrong and we are gonna look good tonight and get the win. I am hoping to equate this game to the football team's game vs Buffalo where we were down and not very confident, then we beat the crap out of Buffalo and kept it rolling the rest the way.

I hope you're right, but it's hard to see where the scoring is going to come from, and how we're not going to get destroyed in the paint and at the rim. Hadaway and Clayton are our best rim protectors on a bad rim protecting team, and I think things are going to be ugly on the defensive end. Like, I think we're likely a bottom 10% defensive team nationally from here on out.

And while I'm as big a Pavs fan as anybody here, but even I am not bullish about him as our #1 option. And there's just not really anybody who seems capable of doing it, outside of Reef for stretches.

When you're a very bad defensive team, and your #1 offensive option's an undersized guard who hasn't found his three point shot all year, it's hard to see things adding up to wins.

We're now a 1 point underdog. No idea but it would seem like its been a long time since we've been underdogs at home. I'm sure its happened but has to be few and far between.

I'm telling you, with the bigs out and a guard heavy lineup, we need to see more of that full court pressure we saw late in Ypsilanti. Take a page out of Shaka Smart's VCU playbook and go full HAVOC mode. It might be our only way to make a run if Clayton/Hadaway are going to be out for the forseeable future.

This is the style of play that I wish we would lean into already. Especially, given the lack of size over the past few seasons and continuation of prioritizing wings/guards in recruiting.

100%

And honestly with Ayden I think he can run the floor quite well, so even better to now lean into it. Shift him into the 5 and let everyone else run all over the place.

Get Elliot in there at 3, Shift AJB up to the 4 - which man oh man.. a 6"4" 4 man... but lock in a fast hands, fast moving havoc style zone, Evans is lengthy enough to make you think about it and collapse as soon as they touch the ball inside. Force people to hit 3's. Some nights they will, some nights they wont. But at this point down 3 starters... time to get clever.

First saw the Bobcats in 1969. It was a very good Team. Went to Ncaa's and beaten by Notre Dame at the UD Arena.

If we could only get AJB to do more than just spot up shoot. For as much talent as we think he has, he only utilizes like 50% of it IMO.

Not exactly. Beaten by Austin Carr!

I have seen Mr. Carr several times each summer the past few years on a golf course. He loves me because I let all his playing partners know that he still holds the all time NCAA tournament single game scoring record in that game--most had never heard. That was before the three so he may have made it to 70!

Interesting factoid about Austin Carr. He does most everything, including golf, with his left hand while in college hoops and as Mr. Cavalier he stroked them right handed!

Against Akron OHIO scored 80 without the guys now sidelined contributing anything. OHIO can score, but can they stop the cuts and sweep the defensive boards?

That's true. But Akron was still guarding the guys now missing, and that created space for other folks/meant that it wasn't necessarily Akron's top perimiter defenders guarding the guys who went off.

Point well taken ! Austin Carr sounds like a very gifted athlete for sure. We beat Purdue at home that year with an another very talented guard named Rick Mount. Any one else in the Convo with me ?

Ayden can play this game, I think.

Side Note: I wonder if we’ve ever considered painting/wrapping the alcove behind the basket as bricks? In my head that would look cool on TV. The grey hospital tile is so lifeless.

AJ Brown looking like he knows he needs to be the alpha. Making plays all over the place!

We have 11 rebounds at the half.

They have 10 offensive rebounds at the half.

Pretty impressive to only be down 1 given that.

I was wondering if the coaches were leaning on him to look for his shot more.

No reason for us to be down 1 at half. Boals has these guys tuned in tonight. Hopefully they don’t wear down in the 2nd half.

That 35 seconds was: The Full Searls Experience ™️

Bizarre let up on D that allowed a wide open lay-up (misses it). Next possession getting backed down - great poke of the ball out. Goes down the floor for a muscle up tough and 1.

I like this kid.
