I hate to state the obvious here, but being down potentially 3 starters would be tough for Duke to overcome let alone OU.

Not sure if we know if AJC was/is sick/inured/bad attitude (not sure I believe that one, bc he's a super senior and the team is 3rd in the MAC), but we wont win m(any) games without him.

Rip the band-aid, start the freshman. Regroup.

Sheldon looks bad. At least he was distributing the ball, but his shot is atrocious.

Searls - despite all the interesting hate - is playing efficiently. He's not Rudy Goebert out there, but he's active, he's scoring points, not taking bad shots, getting offensive rebounds. He's playing well.

AJB just hasn't stepped up. Someone needs to shake him alive. He took 12 shots vs EMU. I think he needs to take more and try to get going early, but he just hasn't been a factor. It's so bizarre, bc I think he's probably the most talented player every time he steps on the floor - but rarely looks confident enough to even attempt to assert himself.

Pav is doing his best to will this team forward and I appreciate it. He's finding his confidence. He's not taking bad shots. He's also playing efficiently. He's going after rebounds. He's distributing the ball. Also no defensive wunderkind out there, but he's trying to make up for it offensively.

They just dont seem to gel. It's all clunky. Gonna be a lot of 30+ min nights with so many injuries.

I'd go with

Pav
Reef
AJB
Evans
Searls (AJC?)

Elliot (Maybe Reef off the bench, let Elliott try to get going)

Throw everything else against the wall and see what sticks. Nobody is gonna be ready without playing and the wheels might be coming off if injuries linger.

I think Clayton will play. The replay from last night shows a slight limp and holding his leg as he came up the floor and then his ankle while on the bench. There was no ice or wrap and he walked around during timeouts. I believe his benching to be precautionary with Hadaway already out and didn't see enough to show he deserved benching for performance.

Had this one marked as a W until last night when I saw us play and saw the Kent score. If you were waiting for the flashes to find their footing, it may have just happened.

Looks like we are locked in for our first home loss of the season.

I would skip this game, but I don't have a life.

I have friend, an Ohio alumnus, fraternity brother, and fellow Athenian, who is coming to Athens for this game from Washington, D.C. He's watched a lot of our games on TV, so he knows what he's getting into, but I still feel a little guilty that I didn't tell him to stay home. I guess I don't have a life either.

Wah Wah Wah. It's always an honor and privilege to support your Bobcats. The explicit bandwagonry disgusts me. It would at least be a little understanding if we were in shambles at the bottom of the standings but of course we are far from that.

In Urban Bobcat defense...I'm sure there is a hint of sarcasm there. It's always fun to go to a game in Athens with college buddies...win or lose.

I thought the Flashes had lost two of their early season starters to injury?

If so, should be a good match to watch and historically, don't the Bobcats totally own Kent in Athens?

Sorry, guys and gals, but I've been an OHIO fan longer than most of you have been alive, and I find this current team one of the most frustrating I've ever watched. I like the individual players who all seem to be good guys, good students, and solid citizens. They really know how to pummel cupcakes, but when it comes to playing any team with a pulse they really struggle. Perhaps, it's lack of athleticism, but I sense that that is not the only issue. To borrow a phrase for the late, great Larry Hunter, this team seems to go into tough games with the wrong "mindset." To me they look like a bunch of amoebae running around with little coordination. Maybe too harsh? I hope that at the end of the season they put it all together and win the MAC tournament, but right now I'm feeling very down about this team.

Don't think you are off base at all. I told my college buddy this is one of the most frustrating Ohio teams to watch of all-time. They lack cohesiveness and athleticism. Who is the leader on the team? I think probably Reef, but nobody seems to get in anyone's face when it's needed.

And at some point, Boals has to figure out how to get a Dwight Wilson big again that can play 28-32 minutes a game and be a force on both ends of the court.

Whoa, let's not go too far there! That team did have talent but it went 10-20. I do see the comparison in that the talent level definitely should have been better than 10 wins. Tony was still young, Taylor and Laster were new and Bean Willis was popping triples like crazy. Mo was a stud who never took the extra leap and Stevie and Setty were what they were: Role players.
Holy crap...this team is like that team :)

That team went beyond underachieving to objectively bad.

The past couple years Ohio has struggled early then put it together in late January and February. Last year, the Cats were 3-4 to start the MAC season and finished 13-5. Two years ago they started 3-5 and finished 10-8. So a 4-2 start is a bit ahead of the curve. But with three tough games coming up, they could easily be 4-5 at the halfway mark.

Hadaway and Clayton will be out against Kent State with Elmore James likely back in the lineup.

Not meaning to pour on Saul here, but poor Saul is 1-17 this year so it could be worse.

Wow! Hate to hear that. Hasn’t he been having solid success there?

Had a bad year last year, but otherwise has been solid. Two tournament appearances including a regional final.

We still have a solid 7 guys and Elliott showed last game that he is the real deal. If there is any silver lining right now it's that Elliott should be getting more minutes with Hadaway and Clayton out. Evans was dominated inside last game so hopefully he can be more aggressive. And please, please, please get Kuany in just to see what we've got. Does anyone know the number of games he can play and still redshirt? Is that even a thing anymore?

None. That is strictly a football thing. Peyton Guice on the women's team a few years back burned an entire year just so she could play a couple games in the MAC tournament.

It was discussed at the most recent NCAA Meeting to change this rule to something similar that football has, but as of right now, any game played and your redshirt is burned.

I'll consider this a small miracle if we win tonight and would be encouraged we can weather these injuries by finding something that works against the league's top defense tonight. The guards simply have to come through. Need to get downhill and make a quick decision to shoot or dish. Enough of our little guards trying to be Tony Campbell in the post. The outside shot needs to be there. Looking at you AJB. Looking at you Sheldon.
