GT fans giving us more respect than most major fanbases we've come across. Part of it is probably how good we look on paper... Return most players from 23-win team, shooting great from 3, former MSU player shooting 69% from 3, NBA-prospect in post, etc etc...

I think our good 3-point shooting will be fairly consistent for us this year, but we are bound to have some off days shooting. Hopefully that doesn't come tonight. GT certainly has better athletes than we've seen so far this season. Good test for our defense, which so far seems greatly improved from last year.

They do incorrectly state (taken from the Macon paper) that Kenny is a grad transfer who scored 12.6 ppg at Michigan State last year.

Ohio is now favored by 2. Georgia Tech is one of the weakest teams in ACC this year, probably the weakest. They were actually picked 14 out of 15 teams in the ACC preseason basketball poll. Ohio should win tonight.
Are you sure they're weaker than Boston College? I'm not trying to beat on JC, but that team isn't exactly good.

In the category of "way too early to label a game a must win" I'm going to say that this game is a "must win" IF Ohio wants a chance to play in the Big Dance without having to win the MAC Tourney. I say that knowing that the only real chance of Ohio making the NCAA Tourney is to win the MAC Tourney. But if Ohio winds up being a team on the proverbial "bubble" on Selection Sunday, then this is one game the Committee will look at. In that vein I call this game a "must win" and in that vein only.

Agree that this is a game the committee will look at. The problem is that OUr only likely way of being an at-large is being a 2-3-4 loss team with one of those losses being in the MACC. Win this one, and we can talk about winning at WKU, at Iona. Then they're really in a strong position as long as there aren't any "bad losses".

Let's get tonight first though.

This looks like a matchup between the MAC's best team vs the ACC's second worst. I like Ohio to win but come March it won't look like that good of a win. I think GT is going to have. A very average year overall.

Without a late injury or suspension, it's not often that a team goes from a 2 point underdog to a 3 1/2 point favorite within hours. Simply stated, the gambling money is POURING in on the Bobcats. I was prepared to bet on The Bobbies ( for entertainment purposes only, lol) if we were a dog or if it went off as a tossup. If I still had to pick a side, I like our chances of winning by 4 or more. Considering that this is our first road game, I don't know if we will see a marked difference in our shooting percentage or not. If we continue to shoot as well as we have been ( and if our POY avoids foul trouble), we should get a solid win against an ACC team.

Hmm...looking at this without knowing that GTech is ACC and that we're MAC, what spread would people put on this game?

This will be a test of Saul's halftime coaching skills. We are clearly not outclassed but the our offense is not dynamic. There are a lot of skill players on our squad who haven't been involved offensively. Hopefully that will change in the second half. The defense has kept us in it. And the foul shooting may be our downfall if it continues to be poor.

Georgia Tech clearly can't shoot or score from outside. All they try to do is drive and when they do get an open looks they chuck up a brick. Georgia Tech would struggle in the MAC. They'd finish middle of the pack at best.

Nice win but that was not a very good team. They'll struggle not to finish dead last in the ACC.

great win for the Cats, our bench was inept and we still beat them on the road. If we eat cupckes for three weeks, we could be rated.

Their length and athleticism would win them quite a few games in the MAC. But they really are challenged offensively. Lammers is a very good player but unless they find someone other than Jackson to shoot the ball he'll get smothered in ACC play. They have ACC athleticism but not enough ACC ballplayers.

Still a solid win on the road. Kenny saved our bacon and got us back in the game mentally.

That's what I thought, too. A really athletic team, but they don't have a lot of basketball skills.

Loved how the ESPN3 announcer compared Tone to Sam Perkins. I recall a very
observant BA poster last winter trying to decide if Tone reminded him more
of Perkins or "Never Nervous" Pervis Ellison.

Happy our poor showing at the free throw line didn't bite us in the rear end tonight.

agree with BCsquared...our free throw shooting is a ticking time bomb...
