Some thoughts.....

*I don't care if GA Tech is down...we needed this "W"
*Foul shooting can't be this bad?? Get the boys with Tommy Freeman for an hour and let him straighten it out.
*Hilight of night was Campbell missing two technicals and then hitting a 3 ball 5 seconds later #onions
*We can't win too many of these type of games with our bench not hitting the scoring column. Carter and Taylor overmatched offensively, but they played strong defense.
*When Big Tone leaves, who is going to provide points in paint next year? But first, enjoy this year.

KK continues to scorch the nets from 3.

Only player in the top 100 3 ball shooters with over 20 shots attempted....there are better % numbers topping his .667 but they are 3/3 and 5/5. So far he is the best..... Ohio has had a number of 3 ball shooters since Jamersons long standing record went down. I see that trend continuing under Saul. SPLASH!!!! Get Dartis the damn ballll........

Georgia Tech has some strengths. Good size and athleticism. That kept them in the game. For example, when they chased down Jordy late and forced a steal from behind. Then their press forced a turnover. And they got some rebounds even when we had pretty good position. I realize the consensus is that they will finish near the cellar in the ACC, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they end up finishing a little higher than that. I think they'll improve over the course of the season.

It's great that the freshmen are holding their own defensively. I think they are still adjusting to the speed of the game and opponents athleticism, and as they do that, they'll contribute more scoring. Right now, they either seem to be a half step slow in responding to situations on the floor, or else they are forcing things. I guarantee they will find their groove, sooner rather than later.

Free throws are a head shaker. That's two out of three games being inept there. At least they hit some
important ones at crunch time. The numbers on the back of the baseball cards say this will dramatically improve. Gotta get big Doug on track there, because I think he will be there a lot this season.

Very good point about Taylor. No opposing team will ever allow him to have a layup. They will foul him every single time going up. I would until he starts making some free throws. Dartis not getting involved offensively was a mystery, but understandable when you look at the job he did defensively.

If an opposition gameplan says Taylor gets fouled every touch then that's going to open up Tony for a lot of highlight reel stuff as they have to play him soft due to foul trouble.

For all those that don't want to play games like this on the road: sometimes you win. Wouldn't you like to have a few more of these this year? Maybe not next year, but that's how it goes.

I am all for playing inexperienced power conference teams that lost 15 games the previous season and have a first-year head coach. Line'em up.

Playing Duke, Michigan State and Kansas? Not so much.

I like the thinking, but against Georgia Tech...I don't remember Taylor and Campbell on the court at the same time.

According to KenPom they have never been on the court at the same time.

Taylor and Campbell don't have to be on the court at the same time for fouls to effect how physical a defense can afford to play.

As long as it gets us a return game, sure.

Before yesterday Taylor was 21-29 (.724) for his college career. I wonder if that wrist brace on his left hand might have been throwing off his motion a bit. He wasn't even close last night though.

Brian Smith:
As much as I hate to admit it, your comments were/are pretty damned funny. I watched every possession on my computer, and you are spot on. I am a passionate fan who RARELY misses a home game. I love the Cats and their coach. I am trusting that he will convince our men that there is still work to be done if we want to get to where we are capable of being.
I like ou chances!!!

No return games. It's not going to happen. We still need to play at least three of these on the road every year.

We seem to pay a lot of low-majors to come to Athens. You'd think that we'd need to travel to more than one high-major for budget reasons let alone SOS reasons.

Looks like a pretty good win after today. Certainly better than Kents win over Texas.

Just a shame that we blew a chance for that game to really mean something by not winning at least 2 of these games: Marshall, WKU and Iona.
