Greer's father is an assistant at Dayton, BTW.

Kyler D seems appropriate and a good add, but saying we won't experience any drop off from Pavs is an extremely ambitious outlook.

RJ Greer excites me as much as anyone else mentioned. Would only be a Sophomore and seems like a good JJ Kelly replacement but with a better shot. Neither White nor Cupps excite me much.
I'm trying to tell myself there won't be much drop off because of how much I'll miss Pav lol

That's interesting because he's had that role since 2021. We offered RJ out of HS along with Davidson, NC Sate, UC, Florida, and Penn State. Why didn't Dayton offer and would that interest change this time around if it wasn't there before? Especially after RJ didn't see a lot of time with a conference opponent.

It looks like KDA was listed as a JR last season, but his previous seasons were at D2? So does he have three years if he wants them?

Good question. As I understand it, that court ruling involved only JUCO players and not lower division NCAA players. My guess is that he'll only have one season left, but in today's college sports world, who knows. Maybe he'll be able to play in Athens until he's 30!

BTW...someone who is tight with KDA's family told me the NIL deal. I do not want to post it until I can see it officially. I have seen others indicate either team or individual NIL budgets/player awards. I know I asked this all the time but is there now a site(s) that shows official NIL deals?

Because I have little to nothing to base it on, I thought the KDA was pretty damn sweet (if true).

I would think so. Even though his assist average is between 3 and 4 he had several 5+ assist games. IU-Indy's assist leader this past season was actually a 6'7" forward averaging 6+ a game.

Same situation as Conners. There have been a few athletes (most notably Diego Pavaia) that got extra years on that basis thru court proceedings, but the NCAA has fought it and maintains their policy is they count towards the years of eligibility. I think at this point it should be considered a remote possibility.

I believe the latest proposed policy from the NCAA is simply a 5 year plan with no red shirts of any kind. You simply get 5 years to play college (of any level), which would kill redshirting or medical years, but also open up the possibility of athletes getting 5 full healthy years without having to clear the NCAA's inconsistent and confusing waivers. This would only apply to incoming freshmen in the 26-27 year and moving forward, meaning we would still have a few years of waiver madness with the existing athletes.

Just add to this for example, Kyler D'Augustino has taken an official visit according to a contact close with program. Sounds like priority #1.

Adding to what he said -- "weird chatter" about Devin Royal. Unsure he's realistic or what that means.

There are 2 D2 guys -- a big and a wing that have also visited/in works.
Certified bucket-getter from Athens County? Sign me up. Feels like ours to lose.

Certified Bucket meet Walking Bucket.
Athens is gonna be WET.
If both players aren't marketing Certified Bucket and Walking Bucket on shirts then they just aren't doing Name...Image...Likeness the right way.

Continuing our portal interest trend with another Ohio kid — Wright State’s Alex Bruskotter from Shelby.

Bruskotter is 6’8 and averaged 5ppg and 2rpg as a freshman playing 8mpg.

Assuming the NCAA website is up to date, D2 years are counted. Thus, he has 1 year left. So....if I was given factual information (and I do trust the source), he get $175K and a truck lease covered for 2 years. The 2 year lease is somewhat of a head scratcher. Maybe needs another year to graduate?

I know Alex and have followed him closely from his time at Shelby in the MOAC. I have family from Ontario up near Mansfield as well as Norwalk.

Bruskotter was a flat-out stud at Shelby, and while the Whippets have a good program, the MOAC as a whole doesn't produce tons of D1 talent.

He was the tallest kid on the floor at 6'7 but essentially played point-forward with his ball-handling and 3pt shooting abilities. He can also jump out of the gym.

What he lacks is lateral quickness (guarding D1 guards/wings on the perimeter is a problem) and he doesn't have the bulk to bang/rebound inside with D1 bigs. Defense definitely needs work.

When he went to WSU I was surprised to see them list him as a SG as I expected him to be more of a SF type. He didn't get much run with them as a freshman last year. While he has some talent - and we know Boals loves stretch bigs - I see him more of a drop down candidate than a lateral transfer guy.

I think he could be a good piece for a Bellarmine - or a starter at D2 Ashland. Not sure that's what we're looking for here next year. Maybe in a year or two with some maturity if he develops.

Size depth. Remember who he might be replacing — Ayden Evans. Comparing his 100 possession stats to Evans and Kuany (played similar minutes per game):

Bruskotter’s Per 100
O Rating - 146
D Rating - 108

Evans’ Per 100
O Rating - 105
D Rating - 112

Kuany’s Per 100
O Rating - 117
D Rating - 111

Bruskotter would have given us more value than Evans and Kuany as a rotational big this past season. Probably the thought here while one is gone and we’re hoping the other one takes a step closer to his ceiling.

I understand the urge to compare him to our backup bigs. While WSU listed him at 6'8 hes really 6'7. And hes thin. There's a reason he was a SG at WSU. Id project him more as a wing/SF but def not a post like Evans.

Maybe a better shooting but less athletic and 2 inches shorter Kuany. Maybe.

Either way you slice it, he was a more productive player than both regardless of position.

He's listed as 10 lbs. heavier than Kuany and the same weight Evans. He out rebounded Evans last year and outshot Kuany from 3PT. We need better production off the bench.

I'm not advocating for Bruskotter, but he would have been a net positive for us when others were not and I can see the reason for interest. Not every player we add this cycle is going to have a ton of minutes logged.

We’ve been in contact with Detroit Mercy transfer TJ Nadeau. 6’5 and great shooting numbers (in X link). He might be tough to land.

You know what percentage of those types of good players you don't get without trying to land them? ~100%

Glad to see Boal and them showing some sack in the portal. Speaking of Kuany, another 6-9 guy from Australia, a true post player (not a 3-point shooter) is in the portal. Went from mid-major to SEC and looks ready to drop back down.

I actually watched some of their NCAA Tournament game against my father's alma mater, U of Chicago, and he looked pretty good. Unfortunately, the Maroons were totally outlclassed in that game.
