MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s defense held late and the Chippewas open the season with a 30-27 victory against Ohio on Tuesday night at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

BOISE, Idaho – Ohio rushed for 285 yards, built a big lead and then came up with some big defensive plays late to win its third straight bowl game with a 30-21 victory against Nevada in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Friday at Albertsons Stadium.

AKRON – If it was his last game for Ohio, Nathan Rourke went out in style – but the Bobcats’ dominating 52-3 victory against Akron on Tuesday night makes them bowl eligible for the 11th straight season.

Rourke completed 20 of 28 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns, with another score on the ground, and Ohio outgained winless Akron 603-74. By comparison, three different Zips quarterbacks combined to go 4 of 27 for 33 yards and two interceptions at InfoCision Stadium.

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ohio’s defense had its best showing of the year, and on a rainy day, the offense used a dominant running game to hand Ball State its first Mid-American Conference loss of the year 34-21 on Saturday at Scheumann Stadium.

The Bobcats (4-4, 3-1 MAC) racked up 316 yards rushing while holding the Cardinals to 351 yards of total offense, including no passing yards in the first half when Ohio built a 13-7 lead.
