Ohio Wraps Up Season Against Marshall

Thursday, November 27, 2003

The Ohio (2-9 Overall, 1-6 MAC) football team concludes its season when it travels to Huntington, West Virginia Friday afternoon to take on Marshall (7-4, 5-2) in the annual Battle for the Bell. This year's Battle for the Bell could be more aptly named the Disappointment Bowl. After a 2002 season that saw Ohio post a 4-4 MAC record, this was to be the year the Bobcats stepped back into the MAC elite. Instead, the inability to close games and injuries have the Cats riding a 5-game losing streak and in last place in the MAC East. For Marshall, the disappointment comes in losing its stranglehold on the MAC East Title. A 45-6 loss to Miami meant the Herd would not be in the MAC Championship Game for the first time since rejoining the MAC.
