Marshall topped Ohio 24-21 in a nailbiter Saturday at Peden Stadium, as the Herd clinched the MAC East title for the sixth consecutive year.

Ohio controlled its own destiny for the MAC East crown after UCF routed Miami in Oxford. But despite a spirited fourth quarter rally, Ohio's title aspirations went by the wayside when Kevin Kerr's 47-year field goal attempt sailed wide left with 30 seconds left.

With 3:49 to play, Ohio (4-3 MAC East) closed within 24-21 on quarterback Freddie Ray's 8-yard touchdown romp up the middle and Chad Brinker's subsequent two-point conversion run. Marshall (6-1 MAC East) scrambled to recover a loose onsides kick, but Ohio's defense held the Herd on fourth and inches to regain possession. Ohio's two-minute drill moved the ball to the 30-yard line before Kerr attempted the game-winning boot.

Brinker was the offensive hero for the Bobcats in his last game at Peden Stadium, rushing for a well-earned 95 yards on 17 carries, including a 48-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Brinker also tossed a 58-yard touchdown pass to fellow senior Joe Mohler in the third quarter on a crucial fourth-down play.

Ohio closes the season next Saturday in Orlando against UCF.

We'll have more images from the game at a later point.
