ATHENS – Led by backup quarterback J.D. Sprague, Ohio racked up 607 yards of offense and rolled to a 48-31 victory against Ball State on Tuesday night at Peden Stadium.

Sprague got the start for an injured Derrius Vick and threw three touchdown passes, while Ohio’s ground game dominated for the second straight week. A.J. Ouellette ran 22 times for 121 yards and two scores, and the Bobcats amassed 332 rushing yards.

ATHENS – A return to health resulted in a return to victory for Ohio on Tuesday night. After being blown out while shorthanded the last three games, the Bobcats shut out Kent State, 27-0, at Peden Stadium to become bowl eligible for the seventh straight season.

BOWLING GREEN – Ohio had no answer for Bowling Green’s “Falcon Fast” offense, and the Falcons ran away with a 62-24 victory Wednesday night at Doyt Perry Stadium.

The Falcons racked up 581 yards of offense and converted those yards into points, hitting for multiple big plays. The beat-up Bobcats hung tough into the third quarter, but although they nearly matched their opponent in yardage with 543, they could not finish drives to match in points.

AMHERST, N.Y. – Buffalo forced four turnovers, including a pair of interceptions returned for touchdowns, and blew out Ohio, 41-17, on Saturday at UB Stadium.

Ryan Williamson and Okezie Alozie both had touchdowns off interceptions in the first half, and another Alozie interception of Vick led to a field goal just before halftime as Buffalo built a 31-10 lead.

ATHENS – Saturday’s matchup between Ohio and Western Michigan pitted one of the Mid-American Conference’s best offenses against one of the league’s best defenses, and for the better part of one half, the Bobcats defense prevailed.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota scored to go ahead with 30 seconds left, and the Golden Gophers held on to give Ohio its first loss of the season, 27-24, on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.

Shannon Brooks scored on a 3-yard run that capped an 11-play, 78-yard drive that turned a four-point Minnesota deficit into a three-point lead and ultimately the win, but it was far from over then. ATHENS – A year after being torched by Marshall, the Ohio defense dominated the Thundering Herd and led the way as the Bobcats won the final Battle for the Bell for four years, 21-10, on Saturday night at Peden Stadium.
