Central Michigan's J.R. Wallace hit a halfcourt shot as time expired to give his team an 87-84 victory over Ohio at Rose Arena Saturday. The Bobcats (4-7 Overall, 1-2 MAC) rallied from a 5-point deficit with 33 seconds to play. Steve Esterkamp's jumper with 2 seconds left tied the game at 84 and set up Wallace's heroics. Chris Kaman led CMU (9-3, 2-1) with 22 points. Wallace and Mike Manciel each had 19 and Whitney Robinson added 16.

Mid-American Conference play begins in earnest Wednesday night as Ohio hosts Akron at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats (3-6, 0-1) lost their first MAC game at Toledo on December 7th. The Zips (6-4, 1-0), meanwhile, started league play with a 105-104 overtime win over pre-season MAC West favorite Ball State. OU is 2-0 at the Convo this season and its recent win over St. Bonaventure and narrow loss to Kentucky would seem to indicate improvement in the team's play.

The Ohio Bobcats used some key play by reserves and some clutch free throw shooting by senior Brandon Hunter to break open a close game and salt away an eight-point win over the visiting Akron Zips Wednesday night at the Convo.

In a game that had almost everything, Ohio played its first home quadruple overtime game in its illustrious basketball history, leaving players, fans, coaches, ushers, concession stand attendants, folks listening on the radio at home...

Trailing by 18 points, Ohio didn't pack it in Saturday against Kentucky and almost bit the 20th-ranked Wildcats at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati before falling 83-75.

Ohio appeared flustered at times in the first half, and trailed Kentucky by 16 points at halftime. In the second 20 minutes, however, the Bobcats got their act together and outplayed UK, cutting the lead to 76-73 with less than two minutes remaining. Ohio's grueling non-conference road show comes to end Saturday when it travels to US Bank Arena in Cincinnati to take on 20th-ranked Kentucky. The Bobcats (3-5) will have their hands full with another up-tempo offense. The Wildcats (8-3) like to get the ball up the floor averaging 80.9 points a game. OU has been shaky to say the least on defense where it has allowed opponents to shoot 49.5% and score 77.4 points a contest.

In a game as crazy as the day on which it was played, Ohio Defeated St. Bonaventure 104-101 on New Year's Eve at the Convo. Steve Esterkamp led Ohio (3-5) with 24 points and Thomas Stephens poured in a career-high 23. Brandon Hunter had a career-high 24 rebounds to go with 18 points. Ohio takes on Wisconsin tonight at the Kohl Center in Madison. The Bobcats (2-4) are looking to build off their Friday night win over Navy. The Badgers (7-2), meanwhile, are playing their second game in two days after they defeated Texas Southern Saturday. Their leading scorer, Kirk Penney (17.3 PPG), sprained an ankle in practice yesterday but is expected to play tonight.

Wisconsin survived a quick Ohio start on its way to a 75-51 win Monday night at the Kohl Center in Madison. The Bobcats (2-5) nailed their first four 3-point attempts on the way to a 12-2 lead. The Badgers (8-2) would come back to take a 36-30 halftime lead. Ohio stayed close trailing 60-51 with 5:20 left but UW would go on a 15-0 run to close the game. Ohio battled ice-cold shooting and Navy but hung on for a 54-52 win Friday night at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats (2-4) won their home opener despite shooting 27% from the field, 19% from the 3-point line and 56% from the charity stripe. Brandon Hunter put up a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Also in double figures were Sonny Johnson with 13 and Steve Esterkamp with 11.

Ohio ends a 5-game road trip when it travels to take on Boston University Friday night. Like the Bobcats (1-3), Boston (3-4) has struggled to start the season after receiving favorable preseason press. The Terriers were picked to finish 1st in the America East after representing that conference in the NCAA Tourney last year while posting a 22 win season.
