The Boston Celtics announced today the signing of their second-round draft pick Brandon Hunter. Although the team did not disclose terms of the contract, it is reportedly a two-year deal paying $500,000 annually.

Brandon Hunter went to the Reebok NBA Summer League with something to prove. And prove he did. The former Ohio standout and Boston Celtic second-round draft pick was named to that league's First Team after averaging 16.3 points and 8.2 boards in six games last week. According to a Boston Herald article, one NBA scout said that Hunter was the "talk of the league" after his showing in Boston.

Ohio head basketball coach Tim O'Shea today announced the addition of Brian Townsend to the coaching staff. He fills the spot left open when Gary Manchel left to become head coach at Mercyhurst College. Townsend will be the third assistant and Kevin Kuwik moves up to the second assistant spot.

Ohio basketball head coach Tim O'Shea announced two additions to the 2003-04 roster. Junior college transfers Terren Harbut and Diamond Gladney have signed national letters-of-intent to play at Ohio. They will be juniors and eligible for the upcoming season.

That was the message Brandon Hunter sent to his late grandfather as Hunter took the floor for the last time as an Ohio Bobcat Friday night against Kent State. Ohio advances into the MAC Tournament semi-finals with a 65-55 overtime win over Miami Thursday afternoon at Gund Arena in Cleveland.

For the second straight game, the Bobcats needed a late comeback. They trailed 51-44 with 3:51 remaining but would eventually send the game into overtime tied at 51 on a Brandon Hunter basket with five seconds left.

Thomas Stephens led Ohio scoring with 17 points. Hunter added 15 and Jaivon Harris and Jeff Halbert finished with 13 each.
