Ohio put the clamps on Butler shooters on the way to a 64-58 win Thursday night at the Convocation Center. The Bulldogs (3-1) shot just 35% for the game, including 28% in the second half, and hit just 7 of 29 3-point attempts. Freshman point guard Jeremy Fears led the Bobcats (2-0) with 16 points. Mychal Green added 13 and Terren Harbut chipped in with 10. The win avenged last year's one-point loss at Butler in the Bracket Buster.

Ohio opened the season on the right note in posting an 81-66 win over San Francisco Monday night at the Convocation Center. Sophomore Sonny Troutman led five Bobcats in double figures with 15 points. Former Ohio basketball star Brandon Hunter will again be a Bobcat. This time, a Charlotte Bobcat. Charlotte selected him as one of its 19 picks in the 2004 Expansion Draft. Boston College forward Johnnie Jackson has decided to transfer and play basketball for Ohio University. The 6-6, 200-pounder will play for former BC assistant and now Bobcat head coach Tim O'Shea. Jackson signed with BC after being named All-State at Memphis Fairley High School where he averaged 21.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in both his junior and senior seasons. The Ohio basketball team has received a commitment from 6-4, 205-pound guard Mychal Green from Ohlone Junior College in Fremont, California. He will be a junior eligibility-wise for the 2004-05 Bobcats. Green, who played prep ball at Columbus Northland High School, was a scoresheet stuffer last season in leading the Renegades to a 24-2 record. He averaged 22.2 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals while shooting 52% on 3-pointers and 79% from the line.
