Campbell to return for 2016-17 season

Ohio Athletics announced today that junior forward Tony Campbell has withdrawn his name from the NBA Draft and will play for the Bobcats in the 2016-17 season. Campbell had announced in mid-April his intention to declare for the NBA Draft but that he wouldn't hire an agent in order to retain his NCAA eligibility. He returns to Ohio looking to repeat as MAC Player of the Year and help the Bobcats improve on last year's 23-12 record.

Ohio Basketball announced the signing of 6-5 guard Rodney Culver to its 2016 class. Culver starred at Pickerington Central High School before spending a prep season last year at Elev8 Sports Institute (Delray Beach, FL). He averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists a game his senior season at Pick Central and 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists last year at Elev8. Culver joins Johnstown-Monroe HS forward Jason Carter in Ohio's 2016 class.

In an athletic department press release, Ohio junior forward Tony Campbell announced his intention to declare for the 2016 NBA Draft. He will not hire an agent in order to retain his NCAA eligibility for his 2016-17 senior season.

ATHENS – In a back and forth game, Morehead State made the last move and took a 77-72 victory to end Ohio’s season in the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational on Wednesday night at The Convo.

The game featured 11 ties and 19 lead changes, with the final one coming via a 7-0 run in the span of a minute, ending just inside a minute to go.

ATHENS – Ohio’s only senior, Treg Setty did not want his career to end Wednesday night.

He scored a career-high 30 points and added 10 rebounds to help Ohio hold off Albany, 94-90, in overtime in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational at The Convo.

CLEVELAND – Hot shooting Buffalo finally beat Ohio, making 14 3-pointers in an 88-74 victory in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena.

Ohio's Tony Campbell was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season by a 38-member panel made up of News Media Association members and the league's 12 head coaches. In conference play, Campbell led the league in rebounding (10.5 rebounds per game) and ranked third in scoring while shooting 57.4% from the field and 44.6% from beyond the arc. He edged out Toledo's Nathan Boothe in voting. Campbell is the first Bobcat to win the award since D.J. Cooper in 2012-13.
