Alabama A&M held to 27.8 percent shooting as Ohio rolls
Ndour, Hall and Willis each scored 12

ATHENS – Ohio used a 14-0 run late in the second half to pull away and cruise to a 72-47 victory against Alabama A&M on Saturday at The Convo.

Leading 16-14 with nine minutes remaining, the Bobcats held the Bulldogs scoreless for almost five minutes, taking a 30-14 lead on a steal and layup by T.J. Hall.

Hall, Maurice Ndour and Javarez Willis scored 12 points each for the Bobcats (7-2). Jeremy Crutcher and Demarquelle Tabb finished with 11 apiece for the Bulldogs (3-5).

Ohio led 37-22 at the break and kept Alabama A&M off the scoreboard in the second half for four minutes, pushing its lead to 41-22.

The Bulldogs also went scoreless for more than three minutes late in the second half, allowing the Bobcats to push their lead to 61-38 on an Antonio Campbell layup. Ohio’s biggest lead as 65-40 with 5:18 remaining.

Alabama A&M made just 15 of 54 shots (27.8 percent) and committed 19 turnovers, of which 14 came in the first half. Ohio went 24 of 48 (50 percent) and connected on 19 of 27 free throws.

Jon Smith and Ricardo Johnson finished with eight points apiece, while Travis Wilkins scored seven. Smith and Campbell, in just 11 minutes on the court, tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven. Nour had six rebounds and four blocks.

Ohio hosts No. 22 UMass at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
