ATHENS – Jason Carter and Ben Vander Plas both posted double-doubles as Ohio snapped its four-game losing streak against Robert Morris with an 85-71 victory on Monday night at The Convo.

Carter led the way by scoring 18 points, with Vander Plas right behind with 17 points. They each had 11 rebounds, and three other players for Ohio reached double figures.

The Bobcats had lost to the Colonials four straight times from 2010-2012.

CLEVELAND – Balanced Ohio had all five starters score eight or more points in a 67-56 victory against Cleveland State on Saturday night at the Wolstein Center.

Mark Sears led the way for the Bobcats (2-0) with 15 points and four assists, while Miles Brown had 10 points. Ben Vander Plas had nine points and nine rebounds, while Jason Carter and Ben Roderick scored eight points each.

ATHENS – Mark Sears, Jason Carter and Ben Vander Plas were a lethal combination as Ohio opened its season with a 92-80 victory against Bemont on Tuesday night at The Convo.

With Jason Preston gone to the NBA, Sears scored 27 points and added six rebounds and four assists, and in his return to the Bobcats after two seasons with Xavier, Carter had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Vander Plas contributed 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

ATHENS – Ohio took care of business in opening its season with a 92-66 victory against Capital in an exhibition Saturday at The Convo.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Shots would not fall, and Ohio’s dance in the NCAA Tournament ended with a 72-58 loss to Creighton on Monday evening at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The No. 13 seed Bobcats shot just 31.8% for the game, including 23.3% from long range, and scored a season low.
