Ohio erases deficit but goes cold again in loss to LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ohio missed its first 11 shots, rallied to tie the game early in the second half and then went cold again, losing 66-51 to undefeated LSU on Wednesday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

In total, the Bobcats (5-2) shot just 26% in the game. Ben Vander Plas knocked down four 3-pointers to score 12 points. Mark Sears scored 11 points, and Jason Carter finished with 10 points, but they were just a combined 12-for-45 shooting.

ATHENS – After a slow start, Ohio exploded past Concordia 88-68 on Friday afternoon at The Convo.

The Bobcats trailed by seven at halftime but put up 58 points after the break against their NAIA opponent from Michigan.

Miles Brown scored a career-high 19 points to lead five Ohio players in double figures. Jason Carter and Ben Vander Plas had 16 points each, Mark Sears added 15 points, and Tommy Schmock came off the bench to score 11 points in 17 minutes.

ATHENS – All five starters scored in double figures as Ohio downed Mount St. Mary’s 73-59 on Monday night at The Convo.

Mark Sears led the way with 15 points and seven assists, and Jason Carter and Ben Roderick each scored 12 points. Miles Brown finished with 11, and Ben Vander Plas scored 10.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 13 Kentucky pounded Ohio on the boards and pulled away late for a 77-59 victory on Friday night at Rupp Arena.

The Wildcats (3-1) outrebounded the Bobcats (3-1) by a 53-17 margin, including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds that allowed them to overcome 15 turnovers.

ATHENS – Jason Carter and Ben Vander Plas both posted double-doubles as Ohio snapped its four-game losing streak against Robert Morris with an 85-71 victory on Monday night at The Convo.

Carter led the way by scoring 18 points, with Vander Plas right behind with 17 points. They each had 11 rebounds, and three other players for Ohio reached double figures.

ATHENS – Mark Sears, Jason Carter and Ben Vander Plas were a lethal combination as Ohio opened its season with a 92-80 victory against Bemont on Tuesday night at The Convo.
