This looks like great news. I wonder if Vick will be redshirted or if he'll be given a shot at QB in his freshman year? I've heard so many good things about Roback and Snyder that I'm wondering exactly how all of this suddent "QB richness" is going to all mesh. Seems we've gone, as others have said, from too few too many quality QBs. But, as L.C. said, some of them may to well at other positions. I'm really getting excited about this upcoming season. I'm looking for a banner year. Hey, maybe we can do better than a break-even bowl this time and actually win a post-season game. Hope springs eternal!

Good to see some Lincoln Boys on the team. Frank still is loved and respected in nebraska! Hope next season shows some  better offense. Both  nebraska and Ohio have struggled at that in last couple of years.

Vick and Bender are both very good football players.  I believe Bender will develop into a more well rounded QB of the two but they are both very gifted.Blob

Bender Vebal to K-State.

Meanwhile has made the news a few times with the roundball:

More headlines for Vick:
Vick wins Perkins award. The award honors a senior in Lincoln for outstanding academic and athletic achievement.
Vick shares award for state athlete of the year. Prior winners of the award that you might have heard of include Danny Woodhead (2004), Ahman Green (1995), and Gerry Gdowski. (1986).
[quote=The article, quoting Derrius Vick]"I didn't choose which sport I was going to play in college until about two weeks into basketball season. I thought basketball was going to be my ticket since I was little," he said. "That's what I worked on the most. I didn't go to any football camps.

"But the way I played football this season, I thought I could be a lot better at it in the future. I haven't solely focused on football until now."[/OUTER_QUOTE]
I think he has a lot of upside potential.

This ends my hope for a two sport Bobcat athlete.  Derrius says this all star game will be the last organized basketball game that he will play.  He passed up a June football all star game at Solich's request to avoid an injury.  The artricle says he has been working out since June in Athens.  Good luck Derrius!!

Think he'll be redshirted, or do you think he'll get a shot in fall camp?  I know that the early betting was that he'd be redshirted, but occasionally Frank pulls a surprise in that department.

It isn't Frank who "pulls a surprise", it's about the player. If he earns a spot on 1st or 2d team, he'd rarely, if ever, be redshirted. If he doesn't, he would usually get the redshirt.

I stand corrected.  That's a better way to put it, L.C.  But, Frank still has to make the final decision of who makes the first and second team.  And, that is a subjective decision involving assessment of skill level, playbook knowledge and maturity.  Also considered in the calculus is whether you are leaning toward a "quick fix" or more "future oriented."
