Not sure what can be learned from the video I found. Except the coach/team are not helping with video.

2012 really? Thats the only film you could find on him? There is newer film on the kid you just have to actually look.

and, now, Howell is showing up again as an Ohio verbal, this time at Scout.com, where he has a 3-star rating:
http://ohio.scout.com/a.z?s=354&p=9&c=8&yr=2015

Maybe he is the mystery/unknown verbal from July? Or, maybe they just picked up the old news, from before the decommit? If he has re-committed, that gives Ohio two 3-star DB recruits from Florida in this class. I hope so.

BTW, the highlights on HUDL show him mostly in a cover-2 scheme where he's stopping runs. Here's a highlight on youtube from 2013 that shows him in press coverage for most of it.

Being able to point to Mitchell & Carrie from Ohio in the league has got to help.

Arkley tweets that Howell indeed has made it known that "he's still Ohio bound for now". He'll be a great addition to the secondary, and no, I don't think he's a 2-star.

I'm excited to read this news.

This kid would most likely play immediately (even if he's significantly less talented than advertised). The defense has an immediate, critical, need for a tall CB with a big frame to match up against opponents tallest wideouts.

More so than the other commitments, I hope this one holds.

Look no further than TJ Carrie to see what kind of success a 6 foot, 190 lb+ CB can have at the MAC level.

Looks like the softest of soft verbals. Check out his twitter feed. At least 80% of it is him reaching out to Coaches of bigger programs for a follow on twitter or a phone call.

I'm skeptical to say the least, but a big corner is exactly what this D needs. Signing Day is a long ways off, fingers crossed on this one.

This young man will soon find out a bird in the hand ......... I expect Ohio to give him a date, not too far distant, to really commit. To stop reaching out, even stop taking calls from other schools or see the Ohio offer go away.

Hopefully he can make a campus visit here shortly. This would be a HUGE signing.

All I saw from his twitter was him tagging programs/coaches of the football camps he attended. That is hardly "reaching out to bigger programs for a follow or phone call."

Also, his last tweet was a retweet of an article mentioning that he committed to #OHIO..

With 3 months left, I still think he will be a Bobcat, and a very good one. Maybe in time he can follow in the footsteps of TJ Carrie, and make it to the next level.

Did you look at "Tweets & Replies"? He signed up for Twitter on Sept 8th from what I see and spent the next two days tweeting at the following programs with either "follow back" or "follow back coach"....Mizzou, WVU, Purdue, Louisville, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, NC State, Clemson, Kentucky, and Miami. He did put up pics of himself at a couple camps but that's not what I'm talking about.

He listed his measurables and position in tweets to WVU and Louisville and says specifically he's waiting for their call.

He tweeted at AL Golden and says he wants to follow in his Uncle's footsteps and be a Cane, in a separate tweet to another coach on the staff he says "I want to be a Cane"

Given, a lot can change in 6 weeks but to me it looks like he's fishing for more attention from bigger programs. The only mention of Ohio is the retweet you mentioned. 247sports shows offers from Indiana, UC, Maryland, and Purdue so who knows what's going on.

I do think he's a talent, and I hope he becomes a Bobcat. I'm just a little concerned that he doesn't really seem to be excited about it. That's speculation on my behalf but often recruits change profile pics, backgrounds, their bio info and at least tweet about their commitment.

I have laugh because those programs he wants call backs from have already filled out their recruiting classes. From the sound of it he jumped on the Ohio offer after watching some Independence Bowl and Penn State win highlights. A couple more offers came but then he didn't have the Junior year that was anticipated. Thinking he's got value on the open market, decommitts from Ohio and finds there aren't a lot of takers. Doesn't sound like he wants to be at a Big Ten school either. You hear WVU and Louisville mentioned probably because those schools are winning.

Please... this kid is rated as a top ten DB in the state of Florida...If I read correctly, I think he is an early enrolle to school as well (January enrollment) so I highly doubt that this commitment isn't solid. Kids do not commit, decommit and then recommit again to the same school unless they intend on going there. Even if he was indecisive as to where he is going, I think that our Bobcats are going to remain loyal to him all the way to the end, because they know what caliber player they have an opportunity to get.

This is going to be the highest quality class yet, on paper anyway, by far. This guy is just one of the reasons. I look forward to seeing these guys in green and white.

On paper, this looks like Frank's best class yet.

I am particularly excited about the defensive backs. Not only Howell, but the whole group. The safety from Florida looks like a stud as does the kid from Colerain (in Cincinnati)
Those three are gonna be fun to watch together. All three are high major athletes. They had the offers to back that up. They are going to light up the MAC.

P.S. From the article above.. "I also met the president of the university" I love Rod.

I really hope that Howell actually signs or we will be in real trouble at cornerback in 2016. After the 2015 season (according to this grid) we will graduate 5 of our 9 cornerbacks. Not sure how we wound up with virtually all of our cornerbacks in two class years.

Jarrid Brown moved to WR, and Devin Jones is more of a Safety, though he sometimes plays both. That means there are really only 7 cornerbacks, of which 4 will be Seniors next year. That's why corner remains a recruiting priority.

LC, thanks for cleaning up my post. With the limited number of scholarships for this class, we may have to mix in a JC transfer or two next year at cornerback that can participate in the 2016 spring practice along with some high school recruits that would report in August of 2016.

I strongly agree with your premise that Ohio needs to recruit more cornerbacks. On the bright side, cornerback is a position where true Freshmen often come in and play right away. Two of the three Freshmen recruited last year played this year. Kylan Nelson played in 10 games, and Curtis Brunson played in 5.

Cornerback, Safety, and DT are the three positions where Ohio appears to be very thin after next year. There is one of each in this year's recruiting class.

I've seen in mentioned that both Howell and Hagan could play either corner or safety in college... Safety is the more immediate need but we certainly need corners with so many Seniors this year.
