A really early commitment for next year's class. 6-0, 170.

Also had offer from Indiana . Beat a Big10-dozen-teen school, and a year early at that.

I'm calling it. This is, by far, the earliest commit we've had in the 20 or so years I've been following this. Now, he may not end up signing with us, or maybe he's a relative of a staff member, or maybe he's a Terrell Owens and he's not committing to who he thinks he is, but this is the earliest commit for Ohio football. As in maybe ever. And from Florida nonetheless.

First of all, this is great news. This is exactly what Ohio needs - more DB's. Secondly, there is no reason he would have committed to Ohio this early unless he has a specific reason. What reason? I have no way of knowing. It might be a relative here, or perhaps he has a specific academic interest, such as in the Journalism school, or the Sports Management program. If you're suggesting that the reason is error, that he thinks his verbal is to another school, I'm not buying it, considering the way it was announced. While I don't know the specific reason, I believe that there probably is one, and I'm calling it that he does indeed intend to come to Ohio, and will indeed sign the papers in 18 months.

This is a big corner. He's got a BCS build similar to, though taller than, TJ Carrie.

We need this. We played small at corner last year with Bass, Scipio, and Shaw (even though Shaw's listed at six feet 196). Not all frames are created equal. Fisher makes up for it by playing like a pit-bull.

I'm really excited about this commit. On the second play in that video he gets right up on the line of scrimmage and forces the receiver to dance just to start his route. Howell sticks with the receiver then knocks him down with basic contact. Physical. I'm expecting big things from this kid.

Would it be too much that WOUB, while reporting on his verbal, to actually contact the guy to check out his reasons for choosing Ohio? Certainly it's legal per NCAA rules, isn't it?

Sure....as long as he doesn't say I really like Urban Meyer.

But seriously folks.......ba bump ching........OUr other DB commit said he really liked OUr new DB coach James Ward.....could it be that Ward is payin dividends before he ever coaches ones game for the Cats?

This seems like the most likely answer.

Well if he did confuse the schools, that will be sorted now.

He apparently had a reason for making such an early choice, but we don't know what that is.  If he chooses some other school, is he more likely to make it to the NFL? Ohio and Coach Dixon both have seen WR get into the NFL . Scott Mayle, Taylor Price, and Lavon Brazill are three recent examples.

Perhaps he will change his mind. That's always possible, but I'm not counting him as a de-commit until he actually does.

Hey maybe this kid's trying to be the face of a program, or the best at his position in team history, rather than another face on the assembly line of a football factory.

I've long wondered why big-time recruits don't find their way to schools in the lower ranks more often. There's something to be said for the bright lights. But you got to imagine it's a different kind of special when a guy like me knows who Walter Luckett is and says to him, "Thanks for choosing to play for the Bobcats" thirty years after he rocked the Convo (Lord knows he would've been a forgotten alumnus had he chosen Duke).

No matter what though. This picture, whatever the outcome on signing day, is a snapshot of progress. So thanks Max, thanks Frank, and all those involved in taking OUr recruiting to new levels of success.

Needless to say this kid seems to be the creme de la creme of recruits. Not sure why he is not ranked by the services but the offers he has will make him a guaranteed 4-5 star. Will be interesting to say the least if he stay's committed could def be the biggest signing for Ohio football ever?

At this point, they are only ranking the 4-5 starts from class of 2015, I think.

As long as we keep this kid like I hope we do, I wish he could have been here to play under Travis Carrie for at least one year... That potential and talent with Carrie's guidance

This is a very odd story. Consider this timeline:
June 24 - Commits to Ohio
July 14 - Offer from Wisconsin
July 22 - Offer from Ohio State
Sept 9th - Rated 88 by 247Sports (nearly 4-star)
Jan 24th - Offer from Purdue
Jan 24th - Decommits from Ohio
 Feb 19th - re-Rated by 247Sports at 78 - (2-star)
Somewhere along the line the Wisconsin and Ohio State offers vanished

Where did the other offers go? Why was he down-rated? Is he still considering Ohio?
