No surprise, it seems he has picked Ohio State, apparently as a greyshirt.

ESPN is messing with my mind on Signing day...listing Jones as a verbal to OHIO.

Buster Howe. Another of my home town Z-ville studs that fell victim to the OSUcks old school reputation. I think he was the 1st Mr. Ohio in football? Went to clown town and was told he would be a D-back instead of a RB and could not handle the disappointment. May no kid (or his parents) fall victim to that fictitious promise.

And before you all throw stones, it's not just A&M. Many of the so-called powerhouse schools make the same promise for kids (see WVU).

When it comes to recruiting, Ohio State is a lot more legit than the SEC or Sun Belt.

Legit as in Ohio State gets in tons of so called 5 star guys whom never pan out...but the SEC gets in 5 star and unknowns who become monsters and win championships?

Confirmed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Looks like we weren't even one of the last two. It was OSU or Toledo.

Rockets do get his team mate though: Four star "Tank" Sturdivant, who chose Toledo over Penn State.

NewsFlash...tosu has only 2-5 star recruits according to Rivals.  As a comparison, Bama also has two.  In fact, the highest numbers of 5 star recruits goes to clemson (4) followed by LSU (3).  Bottom line is...there are VERY FEW 5 star guys out there and nobody gets "tons" of 'em.  In fact, it looks more like the three and four star guys make up the bulk of most of the top teams (tosu had 9-4 stars and 13-3 stars).

If using Rivals, I think OUr team needs AT LEAST 10 3 star recruits per year to "go to the next level"...whatever that is!

Casper, you couldn't have said it any better. I mean you can win a MAC championship loaded with 2 star guys with a few breaks like Miami did but in order for Ohio to move onto the level of Boise State and contend for a National Championship we've got to recruit like a Big East school with 8-10 3 star guys for a clear talent edge over MAC foes. We are going down that path with this class but we need have a lot of needs to fill this year. A couple more nice classes like this and Frank could really have a nice foundation here.

I'm assuming this is a typo?

http://www.ohio.com/sports/high_school/124122844.html

Cook is battling Glenville High School's Cardale Jones, who will attend Ohio University in the fall, for the starting position. In practices, the two have alternated repetitions two at a time. So far, Cook has been going in for his chances first.

It may come from the Big 33 roster which just says Ohio and not Ohio state or Ohio University....interesting too is that Kyle Hammonds for us is listed as a db and not a rb:

Hammonds did play RB in the Big 33 game. Had 5 carries for 26 yards, which was nice but overshadowed by the small kid from Colerain going to Akron and Akise Teague from Y'town Ursuline, who is going to UC.

Wow. A lot of names in this thread. One Mr. Football Akise Teague kicked off UC for burglary days ago. And this from Erick Howard. 41 years in prison?

If it's truly the young man's attitude that classes are POINTLESS, then it's unlikely that he will survive the academic rigors long enough to become a real threat on the field.  I'm happy he did not come to Ohio.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Cardale after this season. With the Buckeyes having so many potential QB's, it is possible he could look elsewhere.

Personally, I favor Cardale to both JT and Braxton but I doubt he could win the job from either of them unless they are both not healthy..

Hmmm... I don't care if he came with a promise to win every game ever. I don't want a guy representing my school, who not only tweets something about classes being pointless, but by the very nature of the tweet itself proves that he needs class more than anyone. Pass.

I couldn't agree more. Winning is not everything.

His Twitter comments aside, I'm not sure what the interest level would have even been from his side or our side. Just interesting to consider that his transfer, Braxton's transfer or JT Barrett's transfer not to mention Burrow's decommitment seem like a possibility.

Consider we recruited 2/4 of those guys out of high school, and another is an in-state player AND we could quite possibly use a QB for next year and it is certainly interesting to consider.

Like others, I am sketched out by Cardale's previous Twitter comments. At the same time, we have taken chances on guys before. I leave it up to the coaches to determine if a guy is the correct fit for our program and if a guy's head is in the right place. IF our coaching staff felt comfortable bringing in a guy like this, I would trust their judgement. I doubt it happens.

My bet is that he ends up at LSU.

There is no way he comes here, but I think our opinions on him would be severely different if he decided to become a Bobcat.. It's easier to forgive and forget with one of your own than it is against an in-state rival who always makes us look we have a chip on our shoulder.
