Cordale Jones 6'5 210
http://cardalejones.com/

The holy grail of recruits..what can Ohio do to get him in the green and white? Cardale has a more than a passing interest in the Bobcats.

Not the one to poop in anyone's oatmeal....but it might take more than just a passing interest to land this guy....6'5"-230 and runs a 4.5 forty with offers from all the Big Ten schools except OSU.

Who's to say OU cant get one or several of these types of guys..may be a long shot but can you imagine the ripple effect if a guy like this actually signed? Maybe a kid doesnt want the pressure of the BIG TEN schools..he could come to OHIO and be THE BMOC for real..this is what would positivly affect attendance. If a kid like this came in I would say he could start all 4 years and dominate instead of going to any one of the BIG TEN schools and playing what 2 yrs..I dont like the attitude of saying well we are OHIO and we cant get these type of athletes..well I think it can happen and you should.

I didn't say we couldn't land an athlete recruited by BCS schools....we've had our fair share with Solich and already this year a commit  from a  guy like Ben Russell  who had a Minnesota offer.

What I'm saying is what I said....it's going to take more than a passing interst in Ohio for CJ to come here.....and we need to continue to offer guys like this....especially if they have a "passing interest".

I resent your implication that we are not a top level program, that there are not expectations and competition at THE OHIO UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL and your implication that there's not great joy and need for leadership and excellence in being OUr quarterback.

Ohio had virtually no chance of landing Cleve Bryant, either.

Ohio has to make offers to these kinds of players. They won't get them all, but the ones they get will make up for the other offers.

It sounds like we may have an advantage over some schools in that we have also offered his teammate WR Shane Wynn. They have suggested they would like to play together on the next level.

Just seeing some highlights, as well as his size and speed, it is hard to believe he is just going into his junior year. If he cleans up his mechanics a little, he will be something special.

http://recruiting.scout.com/2/990159.html

Here is a link about Jones as he talks about his interest in the Bobcats. This link is to the Scout pay site, so you will need a Scout subscription to read it. I don't have a subscripton so not sure what it says, so those that have a subscription have fun.

But I am posting this also due to the fact he did visit Athens. AWESOME!!!

Since I am also an Ohio St fan and follow their recruiting, I can give you guys some info regarding him from their prospective.

#1 - Glenville recruits wait til January/February to commit. It is very rare if they commit early, so this is going to take awhile and will be a long process.

#2 - He is going to blow up this fall, so this will be a fight to get him as he just started showing flashes last year and still raw. Some people that follow Ohio St recruiting think he has better potential than Braxton Miller (5* Qb that Ohio St signed) There are some that follow OSU recruiting that Jones could get a late offer from OSU, and if he gets that offer, he is theirs to lose, but...

#3 - Grades... it is reported that OSU wants his ACT score to get higher before they will offer. So, that is the window Ohio has in getting him.

So here is to hoping he loved his visit to Athens, and how can one not love Athens?

The problem is that EVERYBODY has offered Shane Wynn......not saying it's impossible.....but IF we land these two it may be our biggest combo QB/WR ever.

Unfortunately, from what I understand this kid is going to OSU if he is offered and has the grades...

Braxton Miller will be at Ohio State..not that Cordale cant beat this kid out but I have the feeling Cordale wants his own show...Just the fact that he is interested and actually took his time out to come up here and visit tells me alot about this young man and OHIO coaching staff. I bet no other MAC school has had a 4-5 star on campus in recent memory and for a guy to say he would actually consider OHIO is awesome.

Not to say you are wrong... but Cordale has stated in interviews that Braxton Miller won't affect his decision and he welcomes competition.

Trust me on this part... him going to Ohio State has more to do with him getting the grades and then OSU having room in its class versus him wanting his own show. (Originally, them having room was the bigger issue, but it looks more and more like they will have the room) The Glenville pipeline to Ohio State is very real and they have only lost one guy in the past 4-5 years that they really wanted.

Basically the feeling is IF Ohio State offers he is heading to Columbus. But that could be a big IF and that is where the Bobcats can swoop in and make a MAJOR score. Cuz this kid is going to be really good.

Added an LSU offer...

I think by the time this season is over, this kid would be our biggest signing ever under Solich.

You guys are setting yourselves up for a lot of heartbreak if you think we have any shot at him. It's going to end up being a Big10 vs SEC battle for his signature.

What other MAC schools can say that their coaching staff had a 5 Star Nationally Ranked Quarterback..(and his lineman) on their campus for a visit...can't say that Ive heard of any in the last 10 years..and from what Cordale has said and from the looks of the pictures he had a GREAT TIME. Whether he comes here or not I applaud the Coaches for going after this type of athlete and Cordale is also an excellent young man!

QB Jones' last-minute heroics push Glenville to opening victory
-- 8/28 11:38 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On fourth-and-17 with 53 seconds left in a one-point game, Glenville High School quarterback Cardale Jones converted with a 31-yard pass.

On third-and-10 from the 15, Jones delivered another first-down throw.

On second-and-goal from the 2 with 11.9 seconds left, the 6-5, 225-pound Jones rolled around left end and bulled into the end zone to give the Tarblooders, ranked first by The Plain Dealer in Northeast Ohio and 22nd in the nation by USA Today, a 28-21 victory over No. 23 Indianapolis Warren Central on Saturday night.

"It was pressure, but it's a privilege to be pressured," said Jones, who completed 20 of 36 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. "My coach put the game in my hands and that's what I want."

Warren Central appeared to have worn out an inexperienced Glenville defense as it went 66 yards -- 54 on the ground -- with Deionte Buckley scoring from nine yards out midway through the third quarter to tie the game, 14-14. Glenville's Shane Wynn, however, answered by returning the kickoff 90 yards for a score, though a two-point conversion pass failed.

Warren Central got the ball back and easily moved 64 yards, including a 17-yard run by Anthony Davis and a 21-yarder by Buckley, to set up a 7-yard touchdown from Buckley. Nick Cassidy's extra point gave his team a 21-20 lead with 4:38 remaining.

But Jones threw or ran the ball on 15 of the 16 plays on the final drive. He converted a third-and-1 with a two-yard pass to Wynn and a third-and-3 with a six-yarder to Wynn.

Reaching the Warren Central 35, Jones was sacked on back-to-back plays, but that only set up his game-saving 31-yard pass to Evonte Dunn on fourth-and-17. Jones threw or ran on 51 of the team's 62 plays and accounted for 257 of its 300 yards of offense.

"He grew up a little more tonight," coach Ted Ginn said. "He falls down but he can always get back up. He's still learning. When his maturity reaches his talent he's going to be a super guy.

"We definitely wanted to run the rock. We don't want to throw it all the time but we had to lean on him a little bit today. We're still young up front. It tested our character a little bit but we came through.

"I was pretty much proud of [Cardale]. He brought it on."

Always green colored glasses.

Unless you are talking about Ohio going undefeated and being the BCS buster this year and playing in the Rose Bowl

Good idea!  I've added the Green Shades emoticon to the site!. If you don't see the new icon in the list, you may have to clear your cache.
We can now all see things through green colored glasses:

Just an FYI for everyone who hasn't got a chance to see Cardale play.  Jones and Glenville (#6 nationally) will be playing William T. Dwyer (FL, #11 nationally) today on ESPN at 12 noon as part of the Kirk Herbstreit Kickoff Classic.  Should be a great one to watch as both teams are loaded with talent.  here's a preview from ESPN.  Dwyer has the #1 prospect in the country and has offers from basically every big time school.  If you want to get a look at our future QB ( maybe wishful thinking will make it come true).  Either way it should be a great chance to see a lot of future college talent on the field.

I dont wanna be that guy, but I watched the game and I couldn't help but notice that Ted Ginn, Sr. was wearing a GI-normous 'SR' pendant on his chain today. Uhh, think that was on purpose because he was on national TV? I want to say no, but my senses tell me yes.

As far as Jones is concerned, I don't really think we have a shot unless some other schools find QBs early and we get really lucky. I would think OSU is out of the running already by getting Braxton Miller, but you never know. Wearing the scarlet and gray is more important than playing time I guess.
