Allen. Guess what they say about opinions. Well yours is RIPE. I was in the Ohio Football Office yesterday and met the young man. HE IS BIGGER AND COACH COLLINS AND WILLIAMS BOTH AGREED WITH ME. Have a nice day with your piddling responsibility of trashing kids you know nothing about on Bobcat Attack.

Strobel is ready to start today now. It is insanely hard to play ANY snaps at Michigan and he may not be an All-MAC player in one year here but he will be a major force immediately and thats from the horses mouth. The DL went up several notches with him joining.

Nice addition to a defensive line that was already looking scary to opposing QB's.

Our defense is going to be very good this year if our defensive backfield jells.

Our problem last season was stopping the run I think with this DL and Lbers its gonna be hard to run against Ohio football. Poling is All-World and obviously will be counted on to lead the defense.

This signing will make Poling even better - I'm sure he is all smiles today. Solid D linemen are a LBs best friend.

I am seeing, seeing passes tipped and swatted away at the line of scrimmage, next season.

Bcat2, I hear ya. But, as some others have said, if this guy is better than anyone else we have...I hope he starts even if he is only a one year guy. On the other hand, I would agree he knows what winning and a winning program is like so he should be an asset no matter what. Oh, and am I right when I say I think I saw we initially recruited him? Obviously the staff was aware of something...

Blitz is the best on this board for having the inside scoop. I will always give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to things like this.

I try and keep things interesting whether people like it or not I think the message board is the perfect place for speculation. Granted nothing is set in stone until you hear it officially but for any Game of Thrones fans I may be the Lord Varys type character of Bobcat Nation LOL.

I hope you are right, the coaches did not tell you he will start right away because there is absolutely no video on him, you may be lying. If they did, we really have a problem, nobody that gets 6 tackles in three years should be anointed a starter. However, I do hope you are right, go cats.

I hope so, but

if he had six tackles in three years and he's gonna be a stud for us, then that tells me that the current D-linemen we have ain't so good. I think that they're alright so wonder if Strobel is going to be the cure-all that many of you think.

And, let's be realistic about Heitzman. Playing in 13 games, he had 13 catches for 297 yards and 3 td's. Memory is that he was quite good the first few games of the year but then didn't do much until the last game or three. Maybe he was injured a bit? Whatever the reason, he was overall no better than okay. Averaged less than 2 catches and 25 yards a game. I liked his play but to ascribe any sort of playmaker status is dreaming.

A CPA telling us that 13 catches in 13 games is an average of less than 2 catches per game?

Technically, I guess that's right.

Heitzman had at least three separate injuries. I was surprised at times he was still playing, but he continued to play well. Even when he wasn't catching passes, he blocked well, and that's his primary job.

Heitzman filled a need and played well. He also had to deal with multiple QB injuries. If Strobel contributes what Heitzman did than we can deem this signing as a success.

"Cure all that many of you think." Who is defining him as a 'cure all" and wouldn't that also require folks to feel the D-line is a complete disaster? I see no one saying that.

"I liked his (Heitzman's) play but to ascribe any sort of playmaker status is dreaming."

Looks like you are the only one injecting "playmaker" into his resume - my guess is even he would not do that. I see LC said "Heitzman was a great addition" (I think everyone would agree with that statement) - I said "he proved invaluable last year" - which given the injuries at the position he arguably was (I acknowledge "invaluable" is a bit platitudinous). No one else commented on Heitzman. Did someone imply "playmaker?"

Squared - I bet your 5th graders could create a graph that shows he had just a shade under 5 catches a game.

Edit: Heitzman had 23 grabs, not 13. Of course, none of you geniuses bothered to check the stats.

You all do a really good job of projecting better a nd taking it as so. I look more at the facts, scores, actual results.

Your feelings and hopes are fine. But they are not the truth.
