I thought Murray was a Dec 2013 recruit. Three to play three after 2012 redshirt like Trae Clark.

Murray, Lewis, and Clark were all originally 2012 recruits. Murray and Clark both redshirted in Juco in 2012, and played this year. Thus, if they are in the 2014 class, they will have 3 to play three (2014, 2015, and 2016), and depending on their eligibility, they could in theory transfer in as soon as this spring. If Murray doesn't come in until December 2014 he would have only 2 to play 2 left.

Lewis sat out 2012, and was in prep school in 2013. He will come in with a clean slate, and have 5 to play 4.

Losing Ingram did hurt, but adding Irons helped. Similarly, earlier in the year losing Barron hurt, but adding Pruehs helped. It still is a very, very good class.

Murray is doing 2 years at Juco so he will have 3 years to play 2 granted he plays next fall at Hutch. Trae Clark is at a Juco in Cali and on track to come to Ohio from what I hear.

I'm confused. Was Murray not in school at all in 2012?

I dont think he enrolled in Juco for Fall 2012 but either way it usually takes 18 months at least to get your associates 2 year degree in a Juco.

When he entered matters because that's what starts the 5 year clock. If he didn't enroll for the Fall 2012 semester, he can play in 2013-2017.If he did enroll in 2012, his years are 2012-2016.

A couple Juco sites ran by scout has Murray listed as a RS-Freshman at Hutch.  This means he should be able to have 3 to play 2.

Wouldn't that be 3 to play 3 if he redshirted?

Roger Lewis would be best served by coming to Ohio. He will play immediately. After Foster gets drafted he will be the third wide receiver to be drafted in the last five years. Dixon is one of the best wide receiver coaches in the country. Lewis comes in with more potential then all of of the wide receivers that were drafted in the past. Lavon Bazill for example came here with no  offers running a 4.8 40, he left running 4.4 and got drafted by the Colts. Price ran the second fastest time in the combine his year. Foster will run a great time as well. Dixon will polish him after three years he will be NFL ready. I know playing in the SEC is sexier, but the MAC is a passing league and has tremendous exposure especially after having the Number one draft pick overall. Ohio just needs to get a couple more players and consistent coaching and they can be a BCS buster. Our coaches need to keep their foot on the gas and stop getting conservative after winning the first six or seven games. By the way, I remember when we recruited Mike Mitchell, we recruited his teammate as well but he chose Kentucky. He ended up riding the pine and Mitchell played a bunch and ended up being a second round pick and is now embarking on a pro bowl career, while his former teammate is somewhere saying he is better than Mitchell and that he should have went to Ohio. Mr. Lewis come to Ohio have a ball break all the records and go to the NFL, Don't go to Kentucky and get lost in the sauce.

If Lewis is that good I doubt he gets stuck behind a bunch of guys at Kentucky. Let's remember that Lewis originally signed with OSU. It's not like Kentucky is 3 deep in skill position players like Alabama. I really hope he comes to Ohio, but Kentucky is not some powerhouse where he won't have opportunities to shine also. Probably just depends on whether he views lower level SEC as that much of an upgrade over the MAC, and maybe his comfort level with each coaching staff.

Also calling us a BCS buster?  Wow where is that kind of hyperbole coming from. Kind of think you are going a little over the top with your projections, based on what we've seen lately.

I think the point is that Dixon is an outstanding Wide Receivers coach, and that Dixon has a long track record of putting Wide receivers in the NFL. Few, if any, Wide Receivers coaches have has as many players drafted as Dixon has. Lewis should go where he feels most comfortable, but if he does select Ohio, he'll get good coaching, and he'll be prepared well for the NFL, if that's his goal.

Taylor Price flopped in the NFL and Brazil is okay, but not like we have some great track record of superstar receivers in the NFL. Kentucky has put Steve Johnson and Randall Cobb in the NFL so it's all relative. I think it mainly comes down to individual talent. Also some big question marks with our QB situation has to be a consideration. I guess who really knows what Lewis is looking for. But If BG somehow snags him out of nowhere watch out because that team is already loaded.

The thing you seem to be missing is the others here are posting positives to encourage him to come to Ohio if he happens to read this thread.  He may never read it, but who knows.

Of course talent is a factor, but remember, Dixon's coaching credentials extend far beyond Ohio. He was the receivers coach at Florida under Steve Spurrier and Ron Zook, and put many receivers into the NFL. From his Bio:
[quote=Dixon Bio]From 1994-2002, Dixon coached a national-best nine semifinalists and four finalists for the Biletnikoff Award as the country's top receiver. The Gators had at least one wide receiver selected in the NFL Draft every year during that same span. In 1997, Reidel Anthony and Ike Hilliard were both first-round selections, marking the first time since the 1967 AFL-NFL merger that two receivers from the same school were both taken in the first round.

In all, he coached 22 players that signed NFL contracts, 11-All-Americans and 10 first-team All-SEC players at Florida. The Gators ranked among the country's top 10 passing offenses in 10 of his 15 seasons. Dixon's receiving unit recorded 445 touchdown catches from 1990-2002, 87 more than any other school in the nation during that span.
[/OUTER_QUOTE]
Of course he had more talent to work with at Florida than Ohio, but even working with the talent from Ohio he has had two receivers drafted, and others, including McCrae and Goulet, that signed free agent contracts. To be fair, compare that track record with any other receiver's coach working with primarily 2-star receivers and I think it's clear that his coaching gets the maximum out of these players.

Good news. One visit there to talk to a program without a coaching staff or campus and you'll sign with Ohio.

For Lewis, Ohio is a sure shot, the coaches love him one of his friends is on the team. Ohio is an hour and a half away. I am sure Lewis can play at Kentucky or anywhere, but Ohio puts him in the best place to succeed. He can start right away and he will get a lot of balls thrown his way if he listens to coach Dixon and stays injury free. He will be in the NFL period. The point I was trying to make is that players that come to Ohio improve. He will have a chance to play right away and improve. He is much more talented than Price and Brazill, so he can go much higher in the draft if he progesses like they did. Most of our players that have made it to the NFL have had little to no offers out of high school, but they improved once they got here. Look at TT, we were his only D1 offer.

Wow I really hope you are joking here. To think that Roger Lewis is going to be swayed by my post is ridiculous. It's not like I'm badmouthing him or anything, I want the kid to come here because we need playmakers badly. I'm just not ready to pull out the pom poms quite yet and totally dismiss Kentucky as a realistic option. If Mr. Lewis were to read the entire thread I think that would do more to sway him than what I had to say.

I don't remember seeing your post.  Either way, I was not joking.  If you think recruits and their families don't read message boards your are naive as we have parents of future and current players posting somewhat regularly.  While in the end it may not play a factor in Roger's decision, but why even risk it?  Young kids make crazy decisions all the time (AKA Akron has Malls), and I'm positive message board chatter/fan bases has swayed others in the past (not necessarily for or against choosing Ohio).

There are certainly areas on this message board for criticism, a lot of it well deserved, I just think a thread on a potential recruit isn't the best place for it.

If Kentucky is our competition, I think Ohio matches up very favorably with them in terms of success and recognition in football.  As mentioned BG has a good team but is in a state of flux with the coaching change (see Kent's down year, yes I know they beat us).  The Bobcats do need more playmakers, I hope Roger decides Ohio is best for him.
