He's got the size, at 6'4". At this point his only other offer is from Youngstown State. His HUDL is private, so there are no highlights to watch at this point.

Eastern Christian may be some sort of post-graduate school, like Harmony was in Cincinnati. I'm a bit confused by the concept of a football program that moves from place to place and attaches to schools, but they apparently attached to Eastern Christian in 2012, but before that they were in Delaware at the Bear Red Lion Christian School.

They apparently play a challenging schedule including teams from Cleveland and Florida, and they seem to be loaded with players being recruited, with 8 of them listed on Rivals, including four offensive linemen.

I don't understand the concept either. So this is like an online attachment of a private school???

You are right about the challenging schedule. Playing both Eds and Iggy out of Cleveland is big-time.

Physical school, online curriculum (Juilliard School and total of ~60k kids total in US use same provider), in-house educational coaches. Started at Red Lion (DE) until a falling out happened between admin and coaches, led to Eastern Christian Academy being founded in 2012. The program have players at WVU(3), USC(2), Michigan(2), Tenn, UConn, Syracuse, New Mexico, perhaps 18 scholarships over three years.

Two years ago, ECA (9-3) stopped St Ignatius on a 4th and one on ECA 12 yd line and drove 88 yds w/o a timeout with 1:45 left to play, ECA winning 32-29. Same year lost to St Edward 41-40 at Franklin field in Philly in a frantic game with 20 points scored between the two teams in last two minutes.

Last year, they started with three games vs Texas 6A schools and lost their SR QB, David Sills (now at WVU) with a broken ankle vs Desoto. Barker (Soph) started last nine games throwing 169-297 for 2,006 yds, 15 TDs. Injuries hobbled the team to where they were starting seven Fr/So on defense and five Fr/So on offense, that led to last year's 3-9 record.

Just like St Joe's out of Hintington in Basketball. They essentially are a club team that piggybacks on schools.

Huntington Prep. The kids go to high school at Huntington St. Joe, but compete in basketball as Huntington Prep separately from St. Joe's boys team.

But yeah that was the comparison I was going to make.

I'm still confused. So, there is a physical school, presumably a boarding school, and the kids go to classes in the physical school where they get online and do an online curriculum. I'm guessing that there are no actual teachers at the school, but rather they have monitors of some sort?

Note that I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this. I'm just curious how it works. My kids took some online courses, too, but not for the whole curriculum.

As for the team, I have no doubt they can play. That's a tough schedule.

By the way, Ohio has had good recruiting the last three years or so, and will have a solid team. The one piece that is missing is the QB. If they can land a really good one, Ohio is going to win a lot of games.

Not a boarding school. Most from Northern Delaware, some from Baltimore, and one or two previously from PA and NJ. Not sure he's stopped growing, he's added 2" and 35# in two years.

Two sport athlete, football and baseball. BA >.600, SLG% >1.100 (less than stellar private school opponents), 3 HRs, clocked at 86mph as 15yr old pitcher (Univ of Delaware Propect camp). Focused on football, minimal baseball in HS (10-12 games/yr), started under AirRaid offense (8th-9th grade), but run a balanced West Coast offense last two years (offense ~32 pass/33 rushes per game, 358 off yds/game).

Opens the season vs Buford HS, Georgia AAAA-Champs riding a 40-game win streak. Believe their game vs St Edward is Oct 16th, St Ed games typically streamed online somewhere.

No, if you want to keep your options open, don't do that. If he visits, the choice will be made, and he'll come to Ohio. Virtually every athlete that visits loves Ohio.

2018 Tavion Washington still a HS Soph. As a freshman he was ECA's #2 WR, and late in the season with other injuries became our #3 RB, along with punt and kickoff returns.

Freshman stats:
Receiving 50 catches for 575yds, 4 TDs.
Rushing 25 for 226yds and 2 TDs.

Done vs five teams in the top-50 in the country.

Nice press after 24-6 loss to St Joseph Regional (NJ), another top-25 team in the nation.

http://www.msgvarsity.com/new-jersey/st-joseph-mont-tops-...

He played a half vs SJR, nursing a tweaked PCL from two weeks ago vs #24 Gilman (MD), where he threw for 21-36-2 for 283yds and TD pass in 42-14 loss, but suffered five sacks and a half dozen hard hits after releasing passes.

Remaining on schedule: Poly Prep (NY), IMG (FL), St Peter's Prep (NJ), and St Frances (MD). Not sure if the St Thomas Aquinas game is still on or not.

Thru four games 63-99-4 (63.6%) for 792yds and 6 TDs, for QB rating 91.8 NFL, 142.8 NCAA.

ECA will be a several TD underdog. Best teams they've played were Gilman (MD) and St Joseph Regional (NJ), losing 42-14 and 24-6 respectively. Both of those played close game with St Edward (OH) this year.

ECA has 41 kids on roster, and is a bit banged up losing a RB for the season, Alex nursing a knee, and a couple other guys. It's a team that has to throw to open up the run. If he can't play the entire game or doesn't get protection they won't be in the game.

Is ECA an accredited High school? Because according to the OHSAA master schedule, which is used for play-off eligibility in Ohio Stubenville does not play ECA. The State does show a bye though. If they do play, I encourage you to attend, because that is a GREAT environment.
