I'd expect so. They played St Edward in 2013 and 2014, and St Ignatius in 2013. Hoping the game is a go.

Will not find a High School site as complete and up to date as what those guys at Stubenville, and they do not have this game listed and have not had the game listed either.

Anyway, just curious as to the difference in schedules.

Sounds as if game is a no go over hotel costs. Shame, might have been a nice game. Maybe next year. ECA not as good as St John's (DC), but that kind of size (6'3, 325+ lbs aver OL), but ECA has a good QB and he's been looking good in practice, so PCL is coming around after five weeks.

IMG (FL) 50, ECA (MD) 16 - Final

I had Alex throwing 15-29-1 for 177yds, 2 TDs, suffered two sacks (running for his life most of the nite).
Tough, chippy game, lots of penalties.

He picked up his 3rd offer from Buffalo today.

His father says Alex has invites to the April 10th - Rivals/Under-Armour QB Challenge in Columbus, OH. May work in an Athens stop if schedule allows. Also has a Rivals invite to their NJ camp April 30th.

Also considering a baseball camp for HS kids in MD or DE on 2/21 or 2/27.

I hope he enjoyed his visit, and the Spring game. Ohio is going to have a great defense next year, particularly on the defensive line, and the offensive line was young, so it was a rough day for the young quarterbacks.

We enjoyed the visit, even grabbed a bite at Kiser's BBQ before headed back to Columbus for the event Sunday. We were aware the defense was going to be tough this year. OU looks like a great program, thanks for having us.

I hope he will feel free to verbal to Ohio at any time. ;)

Seriously, it would be a great start for the 2017 recruiting class to have a QB of his caliber, and would help line up some other names to join him, but he needs to do what is right for him. Good luck in decision making.

Great teams often begin as L.C. describes above. A key player decides early, commits, then, through his own initiative pulls other key players with him.

We saw some decent throws, too many drops, but it was kind of nasty (a reason, not an excuse). Young guys have to pay their dues with the learning curve. All the prep in the world doesn't beat actually doing the job in a live environment.

Alex would tell you he quite wasn't ready for primetime (as a Soph) when Sills(WVU) broke his leg vs Desoto(TX). His varsity experience before that consisted of ~10min of garbage time, four passes, and an 18yd run. Getting thrown in vs the likes of Desoto(TX), DeMatha(MD), St Edward(OH), Paramus Catholic(NJ) was drinking from the fire hose. As his Dad would tell him, "guess you better figure it out, and get better."

Would only be PR if this site had ANY impact on who we recruit, play, etc. and as you have pointed out in other threads....we don't. Just an obsession I guess. I presume he relays this info to a coach in some form or fashion.

Ohio coaches saw him and liked him last summer. Your board showed some interest and confusion on his school.

BTW, he finished 2nd in Baltimore, and tossed a 61yd pass coming 3rd in strongest arm contest. The twelve QBs hold 103 scholarship offers.

The recruiting board here is only followed by maybe a dozen people this time of year, mostly hard core fans that are looking at the long term health of the program. We're just fans, though, and we see things awhile after they happen. For example, when Alex was offered, it may not have been reported here for a week or two. Similarly, if he accepts, we probably won't hear about it right away. Even when we hear that there has been an acceptance, we are often left guessing who it was that accepted.

We're still hoping for Barker to commit to Ohio. The consensus on the main board is that the only piece to the puzzle to take Ohio to the next level is to recruit a top QB. Ohio has had a solid defense year in and year out, the Offensive line is coming around, and the receivers and running backs are very good. All that is left is for a playmaker to make it go.

I do appreciate your updates, by the way.

At Columbus and Baltimore QBC camps, he had good showings beating seven (7) 2017 QBs ranked #10-#25, tied #11, and lost to #15. He's pegged ~#65 (Pro) as a low 3-star. He thinks he can hang with most, or recognizes he's a year or so behind some. Ratings don't matter, schools have to be happy with their own evals.

He'll be at the Nike NJ camp this Sat/Sun.

Not sure how a 61yd toss on a one step drop doesn't equate to a strong arm (as this Rivals guy implies). He finished 3rd in that drill losing to a 64 and 62 yarders. I think Ohio measured him at 6'4-1/8" and 208# on our visit, up from 6'3-1/4" and 190# his Soph year. Perhaps has a bit more to grow.

Arm strength is more than how far you can throw the ball, it's more important that the ball gets there faster.

Agreed, but don't want a Bobby Douglass throwing uncatchable balls either.
Point taken.

No, but a good QB with a strong arm knows when he needs to put the extra zip on the ball, a good QB without a strong arm simply just can't make that throw. But he has plenty of time to develop that arm strength, and not every offense requires a lot of arm strength.
