Seems likely.

Very huge weekend for Ohio recruiting.

They went into this weekend with 11 verbals, and perhaps 9 openings. Those are going fast. At this point there are no doubt more offers out than there are openings, so it may become a game of musical chairs, and the last seats may go fast.

The 2016 team was very good, and absolutely outstanding in some areas, like defensive line and linebacker, but was held back by three areas. Those were DB, QB, and OL. All three areas have been addressed in this recruiting class:
QB - Rourke, Keszei, and perhaps a transfer.
OL - Newton, Haas, Jackson, Hayes, and Tusha
DB - Drake, Brooks, Mitchell

Post-visit weekend, it looks like the recruiting situation by position is something like this:

QB (2-3) – Commits Keszei & Rourke, plus the possible mystery transfer
RB (1-2) – Commits Ellison & Minter, with Ellison being heavily courted by others
WR (1-3) – Commit Cherry, plus targets Jalen Walker and Terrell Carey
TE (0-1) – No commits, but Kris Leach is a target
OL (6) – Commits Haas, Hayes, Jackson, Newton, Tusha, Maservy

Total offense: 10-15

DE (2) – Commits Caesar & Watkins
DT (0-1) – No commits, but Dominick Covatto is a top target
MLB (0)
OLB (1-2) - Commit Robinson, plus target Kyle Bolden
CB (1-2) – Commit Brooks, plus target Antonio Howard
S (2) – Commits Drake & Mitchell

Total defense: 6-9

I'm not sure how many spots there are left but here's my wish list for the last few weeks....

DT - Blessman Taala
LB - Kyle Bolden
TE - Kris Leach
CB - Antonio Howard
WR - Terrell Carey
RB - Julian Ross

Even getting a couple of these guys probably makes it Frank's best class ever and would put us in the top 4 or 5 in the conference for the year on 247sports. The unranked guys hurt our ranking significantly (we have 4 listed right now and a couple others not listed yet). L.C. has shown that some of our best players come from that group so it is safe to assume a couple of them likely contribute in a big way.

Lots to chew on here. Lots of later commits compared to last few years, way more JC guys, way more OL, way fewer Ohio recruits, way more Florida guys, heavy on offensive side but way fewer receivers, official weekend visit bonanza. We also have more de-commits from other schools. It also seems like there's a lot more versatile guys, more "athletes".

Will need another running back because of Irons situation.

As usual there are more openings than it first appears there will be.

I can dig way more Florida guys.

Nothing wrong with experienced OLs...experienced and versatile.

Irons may or may not be gone...I'm leaning toward the gone...but AJ will be back...and recruit Minter looks like an RB.

Good stuff.

If I add things correctly, the commitments/offers by state are:
Florida - 6/44
Texas - 2/4
Oklahoma - 2/14
Alabama - 1/4
Mississippi - 1/2
Maryland - 1/9
Kansas - 1/3
Indiana - 1/10
Ohio - 1/33
Georgia 0/25
Michigan 0/10
0/4 - Nebraska, NC, Tennessee
0/3 - Pennsylvania, S. Carolina
0/2 - California, Virginia, DC, Kentucky, Mass
0/1 - Iowa, Delaware, Maine, Minnesota, Illinois, New Jersey, Wisconsin

Recruiting this year was definitely more focused on the south. If I break out the offers by region, it looks like:
In-state 33
South 108
Midwest 34
East 16
Far West 2
(this is using 247Sports data, which is less accurate than Ted's data)

There are now 17 known recruit, plus one mystery recruit. I'm guessing 22 in this class, so there are room for only about 4 more. There aren't many more spaces open at the table....

Read on OSU's board that Ellison will not be a take in their class.....so prolly Indiana in his case.

Interesting. There was a lot of OSU action, egging him on to decommit, and then they don't make an offer?

Yes he looks like a walk on, or we conducted a last minute raid on Hocking's recruiting board, I believe that we are past those days.

Recent activity seems to be around recruiting preferred walkons and on 2018 players (Gavin Smoot, RB/OLB from Hodgeville, WV, Brandon Leach, QB from Sylvania, Ohio.) That strongly suggests that the 2017 class is wrapped up. From our perspective there are still four-five openings, but apparently the coaches know who is going to take those positions. Now we just wait to open our surprises on Christmas morning, er, signing day.
