Really don’t understand how this kid is coming here, but definitely glad to have him. Assuming Parker does not return have to think he has a great shot at starting year 1
Purely a guess: Perhaps other schools told him he was being recruited as a receiver or defensive back. Ohio may be one of the few that told him he'd play QB.
That’s how Marshall got Mike Bartrum. We see how that worked out.
BTC, As you might know Mike had a high school teammate (different class) who went to OSU as a QB too and ended up being moved to OLB. College career was not nearly as successful as Mike’s, however, and, of course, he didn’t go to the NFL. Must have been fairly common back in the day too.
Back then coaches told you what they had to to get you there. Because once they had you, it was hard to leave. Every school but Marshall told Bartrum he would be a TE, which he didn’t want to play (or so he thought). Went to Marshall, got moved after his freshman year and the rest is History and he’s one of the greatest players in Marshall history. And a good dude.
Absolutely regarding Mike’s character. Have had several business interactions with him over the years that he was county commissioner and consider him a friend.

Most signings come in early, but there are always some that drift in later. Hopefully he'll sign as he's one of the more important players in this class.

Took them awhile to get his highlight reel together because it was so long.

Mr. Football is Grady Kinsey of Gnadahutten Indian Valley who rushed for more than 2,700 yards.

First time watching Levi play live. I think he’s gonna be really good for us. The Orange offense is a lot like ours. A lot of read options/rpo’s. Him and Parker have the same play style but I think Levi is faster and has pretty good arm strength. I think we found a gem.

St. X has defensive players heading to Michigan, Clemson, Vandy, and Notre Dame. Davis is the best player on the field. I'm really hoping for Fickell, too.

What Orange in general and Davis specifically have done this year is nothing short of amazing. Orange, in its first state final 4, dominated perennial state powerhouses and large private all-boy schools Cleveland St. Ed (28-0) in the state semifinal and Cincy St. X (28-14) in the final.

RB Grady Kinsey was named Mr. Ohio Football and probably deserved it based on his numbers. But he did that against Div. IV, V and VI schools while Davis competed against Div. I competition.

And, yes Mike, let's get Fickel to join Davis in Athens. In fact, WR MC Walker, who is heading to Youngstown St., might be worth keeping an eye on if he enters the portal in a year or two. Olentangy is a hot bed of athletic talent and it would be great to have a pipeline heading southeast from Delaware County to Athens.

Rare feat by Davis: There have been only seven schools to win a state basketball championship and football championship in the same calendar year since Ohio went to the football playoffs in 1972. Of those, only St. Edward in 2014 and Orange in 2025 are D1. St. Ed's was quarterbacked by Brett Kean who went on to play at USF. Kean did not play basketball, so therefore Davis is the only Ohio HS player to be a point guard and quarterback on a D1 playoff-era champ team in basketball and football in the same calendar year...ever.

I totally agree that he'll fit perfectly into our offense and that he seems faster than Parker. But, the biggest thing that impressed me is his passing game. He's a great runner but can be a very good drop back passer as well -- a true double-threat QB.

Now... since Davis and his top WR (Walker who was outstanding last night) are best buds, can he help get Walker to flip from his Youngstown State commitment?

On 247 it looks like Walker didn't sign yet.

Walker Decommited from Youngstown State on 11/4/25 so he is available and hasn’t signed anywhere as of today. He had a great game yesterday

Assuming he has what it takes to play in the MAC, it would be a no-brainer to give him a scholarship. The chemistry of a quarterback and their top receiver is so important. Maybe we could even make him a preferred walk-on if we don’t have enough scholarships left?

Taking nothing against Davis, and I’m glad we are getting him. But Kinsey could put those numbers up against anyone, including Glenville, who is chalked with tons of DI talent including the best LB in Ohio. Air Force and Calhoun is getting an absolute dandy with him. Runs with tremendous power and speed, but his balance is as good as anyone you’ve ever seen.

People should be excited to hear Davis to Page in the near future. Levi Davis is a guy that has everything you look for in a dual threat QB and I’m still shocked he wasn’t scooped up by a P4 school late. I am more plugged into the scene in Northwest Ohio and OU found a hidden gem in Kaden Page. The kid simply doesn’t drop the ball, you can line him up at any position in the scheme and he can deliver. Even at a school that leans toward the run, he put up back to back over 1K yard seasons with double digit touchdowns. I put a link to his senior season tape and junior year tape below and the growth year to year is amazing to see, and you can see a solid foundation that maybe could allow this guy to see valuable minutes from day one. He’s the only player in his conference to be first team on both sides of the ball. Just unreal upside and value found by this coaching staff.
