If we can sign this guy, could be one of our better QB recruits on paper.

I watched him this past season in a loss against eventual State Champ Olentangy Liberty. Threw for 197, ran for 30, and 2 passing touchdowns, but with 4 turnovers and 2 sacks. It definitely was not his or Orange's best night in a 50-22 blow out. Hard to be too upset about that performance given that it was against a team that was very clearly on a roll and the best team in the state.

I don't think that game was indicative of who he is as a player since he finished the season with over 2,000 yards passing and over 800 yards rushing with 32 touchdowns. Looking forward to getting to more games this coming season and seeing what this young man can do.

Kind of interesting we're landing a lot of these smaller mobile QB's.

I was wondering how Brian would try to build the team moving forward, and it looks like he enjoys that running QB.

Levi qualified for the upcoming Division 1 OHSAA Track and Field meet by winning the long jump (23’1”) and finishing second in the high jump (6’6”) at the Pickerington Regionals.

Kid stays busy.

I think I posted this somewhere a couple of months ago, but I wonder what college interest there is with Davis' teammate, RB Lucas Fickel. Wouldn't mind seeing him joining Davis in Athens.

I believe Fickel has offers from Army and Yale.

Yeah just about everyone I know who’s seen this kid says the same as this above link. Could be a fun couple of years coming up.

The announcer on spectrum TV last night mentioned the same thing.

I think it helps in OUr case, at least for Davis' freshman year, that his plan is to graduate early and enroll at Ohio University in January. That means giving up his senior season of basketball, after starting for the state title team as a junior, and track, after making it to state in hurdles.

Edit: Orange doesn't have Davis throwing a lot, so perhaps other schools want to see more in that area before offering. I will say that if Parker Navarro is a scrambling QB then Davis is more of a true runner with more designed running plays.

Levi is a finalist for Ohio's Mr. Football award. Here's a look at his athletic accomplishments, courtesy of Cleveland.com:

A dynamic dual threat weapon, Davis has been the chief catalyst for second-ranked Orange’s winningest season in history (13-0). Entering a state semifinal, Davis had completed 134 of 198 passes (67.7 percent) for 2,016 yards with 15 TDs and 7 interceptions and had rushed for 935 yards on 126 carries (7.4 average) with 15 TDs. A four-year starter and Ohio University football commit, Davis has passed for 7,006 yards and 51 TDs while rushing for 2,631 yards and 37 TDs in his career. Davis made second-team All-Ohio in 2024. Davis also was starting point guard for the state championship basketball team last March (and for the regional runner-up in 2023 and 2024) and in track last spring was regional champion in the long jump (23 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and runner-up in the high jump (6-6), earning All-Ohio in the latter.

Davis rushed for 2 TDs as Orange dominated Lakewood St. Edward 28-0. They play St. X for title next week.

Here’s a clip of a 44-yard TD.

Really don’t understand how this kid is coming here, but definitely glad to have him. Assuming Parker does not return have to think he has a great shot at starting year 1

Purely a guess: Perhaps other schools told him he was being recruited as a receiver or defensive back. Ohio may be one of the few that told him he'd play QB.

Curious what makes you feel that Parker is a scrambler and not a running QB? Interested in your metrics on this.

That’s how Marshall got Mike Bartrum. We see how that worked out.

BTC, As you might know Mike had a high school teammate (different class) who went to OSU as a QB too and ended up being moved to OLB. College career was not nearly as successful as Mike’s, however, and, of course, he didn’t go to the NFL. Must have been fairly common back in the day too.

Back then coaches told you what they had to to get you there. Because once they had you, it was hard to leave. Every school but Marshall told Bartrum he would be a TE, which he didn’t want to play (or so he thought). Went to Marshall, got moved after his freshman year and the rest is History and he’s one of the greatest players in Marshall history. And a good dude.
