[QUOTE=allen] I don't want TT, TThad about 10 good games, lets hope Mischler has some good seasons.
Riiight. TT is not a good enough standard for new QBs. TT who has the top three seasons by QBs in Ohio history. The best season by a sophomore in Ohio history. The best season by a junior in Ohio history. The best season by a senior in Ohio history. Ìn total he produced 9,125 passing yards while the next QB Sammy Shon has 5,412. Right, why would anyone want TT? Surely TT's records will be broken. Perhaps beginning this season, but, right now the all time Ohio QB should be just fine as a standard for new QBs.

[/QUOTE.
TT was decent, I believe TT made third team all-conference once. I want more than TT. I want first-team all mac qb. TT set the standard, now we need qb's to raise the standard.
I am a Browns and Bobcat fan, a Browns fan could say to me Deshone Kizer reminds me of Derek Anderson and I would say I want better, the fan could respond and say Derek Anderson was the best QB that we had in in the last 20 years. I would not be able to disagree with that, Anderson made a pro bowl and took us to the playoffs, but as soon as teams adjusted to him, he was mediocre. TT gave us a high and that was it to me. I appreciate the high, but I want consistency.
For a season and a half, TT was more than "decent". Ohio doesn't need a first team all-MAC QB to win the east, and then win in Detroit. They need one who is consistently good, and stays on the field. Here's to hoping that Joe can be that guy in a couple years!
Can't we shoot for the best? How do we know what it takes to win a MAC? We have not won a MAC in almost 50 years. Does TT have to be our ceilin? He was a midlevel MAC QB for most of his career and he regressed his last two years. Can we aim higher, please? Let's go Cats.
I think what I, and others are saying, is that TT was pretty damn good when he was at his best. Clearly by far the best QB I've ever seen at Ohio. If Ohio would have had the "good TT" last year, they might have won the MAC. So to infer he's not that good, or was a midlevel QB frankly isn't accurate in my mind. To say that his last year was a disappointment is fair though.

As for how high they, the coaching staff are aiming, that's for them to decide, and you and I to cheer for. You're not a football recruiting expert, and I sure as heck am not. Neither of us are remotely qualified to gauge how high they're aiming or not aiming related to the 17-18 year olds they're looking at as recruits every year.

Just a bit concerned that he had no other FBS offers, but that said, go get 'em Joe!

Can't argue with wishing we had TT last year. I know from the coaches quotes that they want an All-MAC guy, I posted the cost from the QB coach about a month ago. I said that TT was decent, but he is not a dream QB.

I really wish I could get excited about some of these football commits, but I have to be honest, I just can't--when it comes to the QB position and players who commit to us who seemingly are under-recruited or flying under the radar. This is oh so different than hoops recruiting, where the ballers who commit in the early signing period sign PRIOR to playing their senior season, instead of AFTER it. That's a huge difference. I understand it, but it's hard to even enjoy this early football recruiting process as we all know it will become a frenzied period of musical chairs once the high school football season ends. I believe this especially is true at the all-important QB position, where a strong senior season quite often can result in new higher-level options. But it is fun to follow their senior seasons and hope for the best.

My buddy said on the Prep-Villa page you can actually watch their games. Said he was watching from Massachusetts and it was safe to say that they torched the #2 team in the state.

Interesting tid-bit regarding the Cathedral Prep career leading QB. Looks like this young man has been a career backup at MSU. Makes you wonder what he could have accomplished at a MAC school.

Good choice Joe Mischler.

Damion Terry is a good player he will be in NFL camps I dont think Tom Brady had much of a problem being a backup thru college.

What? Brady wasn't a backup thru college. He was the starter his junior and senior year.

Brady lost the competition to Griese and then won it back. He and Matt Cassel are anomalies,Connor Cook started for Michigan State and did not go until the 4th round.

Griese graduated in 1997. Brady was a junior in 1998 and a senior in 1999. He played in 23 games those two years. Being a two year starter doesn't make you a back up or an anomaly. The anomaly was in the fact that he was so underestimated as a draft pick.

a signed letter of intent is the only solid commitment, particularly for teams in the MAC and other minor leagues...

I hope Mischler doesn't mind sitting on the bench for a few seasons, because if Rourke keeps on this trajectory he's on, Mischler isn't seeing the field any time soon. :) It is great to have depth at the QB position for once!

Ideally, redshirt him during Rourke's jr. year, back him up as a frosh, then starter his last 3 years.

As a Prep alum and fan, I enjoy following the teams that Prep kids will play for at the next level. Here is an article from last week Pittsburgh Trib Review on the Prep v TJ Qtr. final state payoff game. Thought you would be interested on TJ coach's comments on Mischler.

Also shows the Private versus Public debate.
BTW Prep won last nite and is now in the State 4A title game on Thursday 12/7.

He is a good one. If his arm gets a little stronger, he could be playing in the NFL. He has the intelligence and 4.6 speed and a great touch.
