Not sure how to post a picture here, but here is a link to some of your new players in town last weekend for some fun. Evan is #33

Is this good?

#Shoutout to athlete of the day @EvanCroutch for crushing 240x20 reps on the bench. @ohiou recruited a straight savage #D1 #YoungstownStrong

Well 20 reps at 225 is pretty good for most NFL guys, so this would be freaky strong for a hs athlete (if report is true)

Evan's lifting coach posted that--true, and he's pretty proud of it. Strong lad...Evan never added to his numbers--I wish he had listed himself at 6'3"...

Anyway, here's to hoping I get some green to wear for the games for Christmas. I'm fairly certain my sister and brother in law are buying an RV for the trips, so my next question is where should we go to tailgate? Are you folks a grilling crowd, drinking crowd, or a good % of each for pre-game fun?

Lot's of Boardman and Canfield folks who are OHIO football season ticket holders to help you find your way on game day in Athens. There are a lot of Game day party options. Can't wait to meet you guys and see your young man in Green and White!

You will be in the good company of many fun people on game day.

But, does anyone know if RVs are still banished to far, far away parking lots?

Evan has been selected to play in the Ohio North/South game, as well as the Ohio/Michigan AllStar game. Very proud of him--and as an update, he recently tossed up 255 on the bench 20 times(strength coach verified) so getting stronger. You guys are getting a good one--as you might expect, Bo Pelini has been doubling back but Evan is solid with OU.

Thank you. No doubt he is past where he needs to be on the bench. Amazing what high schoolers are lifting these days. Do you know if his strength coach uses Schwartz, Wilks or NASA relative strength formulas to rate his lifters?

Not sure--I just know his coach is a "power lifter" if that clears it up a bit.

Strength and conditioning for football and "power lifting" are vastly different. I invite you to begin following Zac Brouillette who used to be on staff at Ohio. He seems to get what strength and conditioning is about. Below from his Twitter.

1 of the biggest performance killers in elite athletes is the relentless pursuit of maximum strength. Athleticism is much more than 1rm's.

Is your speed training really speed training or is it conditioning? Program your distance, volume, intensity, & rest times for best results.

Monday training tip:Write down the exercise you hate the most. Do you hate it because you're weak at it? If so,add it to your workout 3x/wk.

Evan is set to sign tomorrow morning at 9:15 at Boardman High School. Here is a nice newspaper article. See you all for the Marshall game (my first tailgate there)

Now in the two deep at WLB, lots of special teams action. Kind of fun watching on ESPN 3 (as I tell my sister, not quite "The Ocho" but close). Going to first game in Akron, close to home in Hudson so tailgating will be in full swing. We will be there in force with the Boardman crew so stop by for some food and "Diet Coke" in a red Solo cup...

SLB 51 Jovon Johnson (R-Sr., 6-0, 215, Solon, Ohio) Had a career high 67 tackles for the season
50 Travis Daugherty (R-So., 6-1, 202, Clarksville, Ohio) Finished the season with twenty total tackles
MLB 32 Quentin Poling (R-So., 6-0, 219, Spencerville, Ohio) Two-time MAC East Defensive Player of the Week
20 Bryan DiCillo (R-Fr., 6-2, 212, Broadview Heights, Ohio)
WLB 33 Blair Brown (R-Jr., 6-0, 230, Moreno Valley, Calif.) Eight starts, third on team with 55 tackles
47 Evan Croutch (Fr., 6-0, 217, Youngstown, O

thought I might share that Evan Croutch (my nephew) has been elected a Team Captain, and named Pre-season All MAC. Not bad for a young lad that some questioned the recruitment given Boardman’s poor record. Did not get a red-shirt year due to starting on special teams, will graduate after 3.5 years in December, then on to the next chapter. Well done!

A story of hard work + dedication = excellence that seems to be almost a norm for the Ohio recruit. I believe the reason coach Solich came to Ohio was to recruit Evan Crouch, Antwan Crutcher, Q. Poling, Oullette, etc. Thank you for the background.
