Pending his conditioning I can imagine we could see him at spots to plug the middle DUDE IS YUGE AND CAT QUICK
Today is a great day. Dax donning the green and white will be special. LB-ers are prolly stoked. All I keep thinking is how double teams will open up blitzing lanes for the LBs. We shouldn't give up more than 110 yards on the ground per game.
ExCat21,
I would think it would include a heavy dose of speculation but could you provide your thoughts on how long you think it will be before he can start making a contribution? I can't help but think even being in Athens a week earlier would have helped greatly. As talented as he apparently is, I don't think he has as much experience as most recruits.
His situation is a little different than your normal recruit. If he is a junior, you have to think about putting him in the rotation early in the season. But that's if he passes the conditioning test. If he passes that then based on film, he has the strength to play now. If it's 3 with 2 then you could play the 4 game rule and break down his film to see if he is ready now or needs a year to mature. In my opinion, he could play now but I'm redshirting him to get one year exposure to the system and "Unleash the Beast" in year 2. The ripple effect on DL recruiting years to come will benefit us.

Personally, I really want to hear his story and understand what he's been through to get to this point.
Thanks for your reply ExCat21. I wondered how this might be viewed on the inside from a former player. I am interested in his story too. I have to admit that I have no idea what could result in a recruit only having two years of NCAA eligibility left immediately after high school. I don't think I have heard of that before. Thanks again!
A possible scenario If he played one snap for an organized amateur Football Club team then his eligibility clock would have started at that point.

I had a kid that this happened to it was terrible.

Easy on the hype train boys. Suh, a Top 50 national recruit, didn’t even start one game til his third season in Lincoln, and that year he had one sack.

That said, this is great news.

Cmon Mike...have a glass of green koolaid...I have gallons of it...lol.
I’m drinking what you’re drinking, Doc. This guy is going to be one great Bobcat player.

Hope that appeal is successful. Thanks bobcatblitz for explain how this eligibility issue could have happened.

One snap of semi-pro doesnt jeopardize your eligibility. You're not getting paid. This happened to the Cincinnati Bearcats receiver (Marshawn "Mardy" Gilyard) who played semi pro in our league then got drafted 4th round) in the early 2010s. He eventually went back to Bearcats and regained eligibility before the draft. As long as he didnt get paid, he should win that appeal. Man that sucks he is a junior. I hope he wins the appeal.

Mardy Gilyard: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/todayilearn... /

My Columbus Fire team beat his Cincinnati Kings Comets team. He was really good and we even told him as his opponent's post-game that he needed to get back in school. And he did. I hope this is over semi-pro eligibility because if so... we have a case here that will benefit our guy.

He's also currently considered a transfer so that means he has to sit out this season.

A little more detail in Arkley's blog post: https://www.athensmessenger.com/blogs/bobcat_blog/fall-ca...
Unless Ohio gets a waiver, Daxon would have to sit out this year as a transfer year.

So Arkley is now tweeting that Daxon playing in 2019 is still to be determined. Wow, the story never ends
Sorry didn’t read the post above.
Anyway, this may explain why some other teams backed off. We seldom have a chance to get a guy like this, so it’s probably worth the effort.

Redshirt 2019. Play in 2020 and 2021.
And hope he can get a degree in 3 years as well. Such a shame that it got to this point....but Im glad he does have eligibility left.

I played in the old MDFL and NAFL had some great games in Canada, Mexico and the Orange Bowl/Walt Disney but eventually they told us that the NCAA rules had changed that if a kid who had already graduated HS played one snap his NCAA clock could potentially start.
We had guys who just played anyway of course even had my cousin Chris Cook suit up for us in the middle of his NCAA suspension prior to being drafted but they def warned guys that it was a possibility per ncaa. Semi pro used to be really really good we faced those old XFL guys when they formed teams in NC and the Central Penn Piranaha was just ridiculous.

I’m with ya squared.

One of the naysayers had mentioned grades....hopefully we can put that to rest.

Big ? now is what kind of shape is he in or will be in by the Fall.

Agreed on his shape being the big question. Saw someone (Arkley?) mention he hasn't practiced a ton. I would think he's been conditioning/in weight-room at least?

I trust DAK. He will be ready by game 1. Volleyball sandpit for quickness.....weight room for strength and hopefully another Strouds Run test for endurance.

Think what you want, and if it is happening, this would not be the place to put that out there.

Yessir it is. Hopefully him and DAK have been besties during his transition! Hopefully he has been running in the sand pits to increase footspeed and quick burst. Hopefully, he has been tossing weight left and right to be ready for double teams. And hopefully his grades are in amazing shape. I wish this kid nothing but the best.

After Covid is over and increased eligibility he may be the oldest Bobcat to wear a uniform since David Terry.

Does that mean he's going have his penalty rolled back, and not be a Junior this year? Also, if they play this year, won't that put an end to the increased eligibility, or will playing in games this year not cost a year of eligibility?
