Mr. Vick is plenty QB in my book, thank you.

What a surprise that your book is written that way

Named Ohio's 28th Mr. Football and the 1st ever from the SE Region, as well as was named back to back Gatorade POY for the State of Ohio.

The play may be called for a trip to columbus but an audible to Athens, Ohio would show command at the line of scrimmage.

Does the new staff at Nebraska make a run at Joe to test his OSU commitment?

If Riley had an offer to him when he was at Oregon State, then perhaps. If not, it's doubtful.

More likely would be if Tom Herman were to get a HC gig (e.g., Colo St) and then extend an offer. But even that is doubtful given OSU is the in-state dream school of Burrows.

Herman to Houston - Putting up points at Houston could be an intriguing proposition.

Amazing. It would never be possible without Frank Solich coaching at Ohio.

Interesting. I knew Beck used to coach wide receivers at Kansas, and running backs for Nebraska, but I didn't realize he had switched to QB's. Apparently he made the switch a couple years ago, and was doing that in addition to being the offensive coordinator.

This needs to be said IMO...

After watching the Athens/Warren game tonight, I'm not so sure I want Burrows as a QB. The more I see him, the more I realize that his body language and leadership skills are atrocious. He lacked any energy or competitive spirit it seemed...just acted like he'd rather be somewhere else. This is not unusual for him, and I've gotten to several Athens games this year. He may have the skills to be a D1 quarterback, but I just don't think he'll be able to handle the mental part of the game. Some legitimate question marks there if you ask me. It's like he's taken some cues from TT in regards to pouting.

This has aged very well.

Vandy would be a good fit for him. He's not being courted by the Bama's, Auburn's, Georgia's - so a Vandy where he can play, and have a chip on his shoulder works nicely. Same as an NC State (that has offered). Vandy (and an NC State) also play a style that he fits - not a heavy read option style.

That's too bad considering he runs pretty much all read option and zone running game currently

Consider the competition. Read option on the Plains is one thing, on Saturday a different story.

Given his size and speed, he will be looked to be more a drop back, keep plays going with his legs guy, as opposed to be a a read option guy - at the level we are discussing.
Another well aged post

Yes it is - he's not a read option run guy (ala Lamar) - but a keep play going with his legs guy - ala Russel. Still think an NC State would have served him well (they are now starting 4 QBs in NFL - instead of being overlooked at OSU by Urban. But hey - he made the most of a bad situation - and won the Heisman. on. Saturday.

And this aged well as also

If OSU gets Torrance Gibson and Miller returns, does Burrow stay at OSU? Crowded house. I won't totally give up hope.
Not to mention Barrett returning with, I believe, 3 years of eligibility left.
You want to be the best you have to compete against the best!
And he will be. Miller is Miller. Barrett was the #2 ranked QB as a recruit and will have a year's experience as starter. Gibson is considered the #1 QB recruit. Burrow will be the least decorated...which may determine starting gates, but not much else. Logic would say he gets redshirted - but I could see OSU redshirting Gibson instead so as to save him for future years. I still say Burrow goes to OSU, but rethinks once there. We'll see. Key now is stay healthy and have fun.

You omit that Burrow was No 2 until he broke a hand in pre-season. And yeah, be such an exciting time in Raleigh. Here’s what’s interesting, Joey does not regret his time in Columbus, in facts talks kindly about the experience and how it helped him and he talks to Coach Meyers several times a week. Going to OSU put him in this position. While going to NCState would not have. He would not win a Heisman and be a top 5 draft pick from there. 4 years later and you still feel like you knew better than the family 😂 oh, and man Gibson worked out real well.

Not a read option guy, however they still run the read option as a very effective RPO (which is a read option, same principals and execution based on what the defender is doing) but hey whatever, watch a game the way you’d like to watch one. (He may not be Lamar, but Lamar is Lamar, that’s like saying a player isn’t a running back like Jim Brown). 🤦🏼‍♂️

Nor is he as good as Russel Wilson. But that is more his game - he ( and LSU) are not using the threat of his legs to drive their offense - because they are not enough of a threat. Rather his success is predicated on his passing and ability to use his mobility to extend plays and get yards when needed (Ala Russell Wilson, Big Ben, etc). He will never be used in an offense like Lamar, Cam, and Kyler Murray. For some reason that appears to disturbs you - not sure why - but so be it.

Yea I know - I say he is more like Russel Wilson than Lamar Jackson and he takes it as an insult. Whatever.

By the way, NC State worked out better for Rivers and Russell Wilson a whole lot better than LSU has worked out for any QB since YA Tittle. But God forbid logic and insight be used. So be it.

Burrows is NOT Russell Wilson or Phillip Rivers, Joe wanted the biggest stage and to play for National Titles, always has and always will. He has made that clear from day 1, that's why none of those schools ever had a shot at him. And to your logic, LSU is working out just fine for Joe.
