June 2nd in Columbus is a more important date for him - assuming he has registered for the regional tryout for the Elite 11 program that is being held that evenng.

Pick anywhere. ANYWHERE but there. WVU, Cincinnati, Marshall, UT-Martin, I don't care. Just not "them".

This sets back Ohio Football 20 years, I'm telling you. The local sheep that don't even follow O$U now have a reason to. Just awful...

This place should be off limits to coaches/players, for their own mental health.

In the unlikely event that he reads this site, then he would have already known what the reaction here would be. Surely no one is surprised by it. It will calm down in time, though, and those that root against OSU will continue to do so, and that that root for them will continue to do so.

Do you think he'd be surprised?? I mean really, what sort of reaction would he expect??

Woo hoo! Our DC's son is going to play for a school most of us hate with a passion!! I'm so excited to see this all come to fruition and can't wait to cheer him on. What a day!

I mean, let's get real here. It's not personal. But when you commit to the enemy, don't expect a parade.

I don't hate OA&M with a passion. I hate Marshall with a passion. I hate Miami with a passion. I DO hate those non-alumni OA&M fans with a passion, particularly those who went to OHIO. OA&M athletics? Those I'm just indifferent towards.

Everyone has their own "hate" thresholds. To me, OA&M is on a different level. I root against them academically, athletically, you name it. If there was a ballot issue to shut the school down I'd give my life savings in support of it. Just don't like the school or anything it stands for.

Miami? I hold some level of respect for them. We're more similar than most would like to admit. Doesn't mean I don't want to kick their rear ends in every sport. Marshall? Same. A worthy rival and (while there are some notable exceptions) great fans.

Those schools face the same challenges we do and have kept athletics in some semblance of perspective. OA&M has sold their souls and the entire institution in pursuit of the almighty dollar. It's sickening and not at all what college sports was ever supposed to be about.

Love to watch the kid play and I think he can do great things. I wish the best for him, but doubt  that he sees the field in his career at O$U.

Agreed. I can't believe how so many think he's going to be a starter. OA&M probably doesn't even see him as the 2nd choice. He's just a safety net. And if the offer gets pulled, I don't think anyone is shocked...that's how it works with the big boys. Especially a program (and coach) that dirty.

I must say I do admire him for taking a shot at the big time.  I am skeptical.  But, good for him for going big.  If it doesn't work out after a few years, we should have a green and white jersey waiting for him.

Three others got invites last night, but not Burrow.  15 spots now filled.  Could be one of the last three "wildcards" but reports are that he is not in the running.  nice socks....

If Braxton Miller is granted a medical redshirt, what does that spell for young Burrow...?

As Arkley tweeted, "QB position at OSU bout to get crowded"

I don't think this will really affect him. He will probably redshirt next year anyway right?

Well the real key will be how the redshirt freshman plays at Ohio State - if he leads them to a great season - Burrow might want to reconsider...

Burrow isn't even osu's #1 QB recruiting target...Torrance Gibson is, who as of 3 weeks ago stated that osu is his #1 choice. The Miller situation might change that, but Burrow could be looking at being #5 on the depth chart next season. In any event, he was staring at a red-shirt next season, and this simply makes that a virtual certainty.

If he has selected osu for educational opportunities, then I don't see how any of this affects his decision. But if he picked it expecting a chance at playing time (say, an alternate universe where Miller graduates, current back-up whose name I can't remember gets hurt, and Cardale Jones ain't come to play school so much that he don't get to play football, so Burrow is tabbed as an emergency option), then sure maybe the recruitment re-opens.

Would be great.

But more than all it would be a shame if a big talent like him, ends up in a situation where he doesn't get to showcase his talent and rides the bench at the 'big' school. Definitely seems like 4 year starter material in the MAC. And there seem to be more and more questions at QB at OSU.

When you commit to a top program like OSU, you have to expect competition. That doesn't phase some guys... They just view it as a chance to prove how good they are...

Speaking of OSU's depth, they also have picked up a 2017 verbal at QB in Massilon phenom Danny Clark.

At this point, I would give Burrow a clear edge over Clark but I cannot deny Cark has some huge potential. Clark could end up one of the top recruits in the nation. He has the frame and atheticism, just needs some mental growth that has surey come since starting as a true frosh at Massillon.
