...On the flip side.  Do coaches/scouts give too much benefit to players that are on powerhouse teams?  ...

I wondered that exact question last year, with Walsh. He had 4 All-state offensive linemen in front of him. When a good QB has all day, he can pick a defense apart. When he's running for his life, he may not look good at all.

Billy, has there been any info out about any camps he might have participated to this point.  Another thing is that the only way we would know if he has offers is if he or his coach were to provide the info to the services.  Being the son of a coach, it would not surprise me if the Burrows decided to keep it all close hold for their own reasons. What might be a benefit of just not releasing the info on offers?

It's always possible, but I've only seen this happen once, with a QB from Beaver Creek that had committed to Ohio as a Safety. When Nebraska and Ohio State made offers, he bumped from 2 stars to 3. I don't think he played much for Ohio State in the end, though, so maybe 2 stars was the right rating. As a recent example, when Kirk Barron decommitted to Ohio after getting an offer to Purdue, and committing there, he remained with the same rating as before, 2 stars.

What is more likely to raise Burrow's ratings, in my opinion, is if he does some camps, and performs well there.

Trevor Pendelton starting fullback at Michigan State from Portsmouth West

Drew Basil current kicker at OSU from Chillicothe

both currently playing and preforming well.

Jared McCray from Minford is heading to Louisville this spring.

Athens won in OT 55-52. Burrow went 20 yards on the ground on their 1st play for the win. Kid is a stud!

yep, they were down 21-7 in the first q.  Arkley speculated pregame that Burrow might see time in the defensive backfield.  the legend continues...

Athens' next game is against Columbus Marion Franklin, and I expect it will be somewhere in the cbus metro area, perhaps at gahanna or hamilton township, where they played last year.

Athens High QB Grant Gregory recently played QB at both USF and 5th year at Kansas State. I believe around 2010 at KSU.

He actually started at Indiana and had a stop at Louisville before KSU. And KSU was his 6th year.

Saw Burrow Friday night.  He's a high-major QB.  No doubt.  Was told he's already been to OSU for a visit.  Could just be a rumor.  But, I believe it.

Is Athens the same as the Plains Athens?

How far did QB take his team this season.  If to the playoffs, how did he do against better competition?

They lost in the Division III Region 9 final game. Here's the bracket and scores and the box score of the final, where they lost 38-7. Burrow was sacked six times and intercepted twice.

[Quote=Red Devils coach Brian Haffele]That quarterback is legit — he throws it as good as anyone I’ve coached against — but we thought we could take away his wideouts.[/OUTER_QUOTE]

This /\  --  Unfortunately, camps will be held right before his senior year, and most schools have already committed to recruits (especially QBs) by then - as the recruits all attended camps pror to junior year as well.  Friend's son committed to GA over OSU, Bama and others last May (end of jr. year) - but had been offered by all at this point.

If Burrows is as good as many say, the process (limited offers) may be working in Ohio's favor.

I think he is going to pickup quite a few offers before next season. He is too good and too well connected in the coaching circles to fly under the radar.

If Ohio is going to get Joe Burrow, it is going to be because he wants to play here.

Is it possible they are not releasing his offers? Just not replying to the scouting boards?
