Yes. Archbishop Hoban is the power in Akron.

Lazy? Walsh is really good. Split with Hoban last year and have closed the gap big time. Crosley and Brewer are both solid prospects. They may be the favorites to win D2 this season.

My post from almost 2 months ago, criticizing Ohio football coaching staff for being lazy, was a jab at those on BA being critical of Boals for being lazy in recruiting 3 players from the same high school, Reynoldsburg.

I admittedly know too little about Walsh Jesuit football to heap praise or criticism on OUr recruiting of Walsh Jesuit players.

Must admit, it has been fun to see the evolution of the pipelines in Ohio grow stronger over the last 10 years and winning recruiting battles more than usual. Love how we can trot into NE Ohio and lock horns with them at that level.

Grabbing two from Walsh is looking like a good idea so far.

OUr coaches can do worse than recruit the OCC.

I wonder if we're interested in Levi Davis' teammate Lucas Fickel, the top RB for Olentangy Orange, the top team in central Ohio.

I heard Newark OL Cam Davis, who committed to Buffalo this past summer, was at OUr homecoming game yesterday. I would love to see Ohio flip him and Newark DE/TE Preston Lunsford, another UB commit who has been offered by Ohio and was at the team's spring game.

This guy is apparently one of the top five rushers in the COUNTRY and doesn't have a D1 offer. But he will visit soon. Maybe an Ouellette situation? Though Talawanda is a lot bigger than Covington. Would be taking a guy right from Miami's backyard.

Love to see all those Ohio kids on the commit list. Seems it wasn't too long ago when most our recruits were out of state. I don't think we've seen this many Ohio recruits since before the Wilderness Years of Cleve and PaPa L. At least that's my gut impression. Doc can confirm or negate that premise.

I confirm OCF.

Nice to see the Tallmadge DL.

Listed as an edge guy but at 6’4”-240 he can grow into someone who can play anywhere on the DL.

I even like the preferred walk on dude from Nelsonville York…at 6’5”-290 he’s a road grader.

Decent class.

Thanks for the confirmation, Doc. Though I don't have data going back that far, myimpression was back in the Hess Era, we had mostly Ohio recruits, with an ocassional Western Pennsylvanian thrown in. Even the great combo of Bryant to Snyder were two Ohio boys; one from Canton and the other from Athens. Maybe we are trending back in that direction, at least to some extent. It'll be interesting to see how the Nelsonville Road Grader works out. I'm pulling for him!

Great seeing kids from Ohio coming to play here. But I'm not surprised at the number of out of state kids as we have been recruiting more out of state kids as part of our enrollment. I have more kids from out of state working for me or just in the library who hail from another region. It is a trend just not in athletics.

From the Columbus Dispatch, on Olentangy Orange's defeat of Cleveland St. Edward in a state semifinal game Friday night:

Orange "held Ohio University receiver commit Zach Hackleman in check, limiting him to 29 yards on four catches."

Edit: I've seen elsewhere that he's a Toledo commit. I guess we'll find out Wednesday.

Smith and Hackleman recently followed each other on X, so we will see.

That would be quite a get and would be Hacklemans second decommit..he had decomitted from Kent State.

I wonder what the record is for decommits?

Hackleman and Page could be quite a tandem.

I believe the only commits that we are still waiting on to sign are QB Levi Davis and P/K Cooper Heimbach

I am not being a wet blanket with this question. I am just trying to prepare myself to either celebrate the signings or head to the liquor store.

Can any of the signees bail out if Smith doesn't return for any reason?

Yes, per NCSA College Recruiting (https://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting/ncaa-transfer-rules ), "A 30-day portal window opens for players immediately following a head coach’s departure at their current school."

This would be similar to Julian Sayin who signed with Alabama and was an early enrollee and then transferred to OSU shortly after due to Nick Saban retiring.

Damn. I thought that may be the case.

On another note, according to X, Fiami had 6 commits flip to P4 schools. 2 to Michigan, 2 to Michigan State, 1 to WVU and 1 to Northwestern.

On a side note, Fiami is begging for respect in just about every digital media outlet. Waaaa!
