That's the kind of offensive output Ohio needs to have while the D is getting its sea legs. After the pick six, six straight TD drives (which would make seven straight, if you count the one that went the other way). Nine straight drives with points. Got away from RBUTM on first down and mixed it up a bit more. And the execution was much better than last week. Just the one TO. TOP really helped the D. We were up by 12 minutes over the first three quarters. Kept the D off the field. Still a little too conservative near the goal line late in the game, given that UMass has such a potent offense. Keeping the lead at two scores left the door open for them just a bit.
Seems opponent defensive team meetings would begin and end with Rourke's highlight reel. UMASS has Barr who would have been a great one to spy Rourke through the game. DEs have to know he is a 1,000 yard rushing QB.

Congrats on the game and hope you win it it all in the MAC.

Obviously Rourke will be offensive POW in the MAC East. Look for Zervos to be special teams POW. 3-3 in FGs; 7-7 in extra pts. Mr. Dependable strikes again. The only competition is from Fiami's KO returner, who averaged 33 yds per return on 7 returns, including a 99-yd TD. But they lost, so Zervos should have the edge.

I'm not an expert here, so I'll just ask: Is it possible our defensive backs are being taught to try to find the ball in the reflection from the receivers' eyes? Maybe that's why they never turn around to look for it. Just asking.

Official was around 19500. In the days of the Family Packs, this size crowd would have had a paid figure of about 22000. Nice crowd. Excellent game day atmosphere.

there are definitely still family packs. I know because I have one of them. Are you sure you're not mixing it up with the recent decision to drop them from basketball? As for the attendance student side sure looked pretty full including the corner section there's no way there was only 15K total

I hate to ruin the party but UMASS was a really bad defense. Kent is probably equally bad.

I’m not worried about anybody’s defense.

I’m worried about OUr defense.

Ok, I believe, I believe! But there were some changes made due to tax regs and the OBC which depressed season ticket sales, and I was under the impression that there was some sort of change with the Family Packs. Thanks for the correction.

"MAC got their revenge on us, officiating-wise," UMass coach Mark Whipple said. "That's the worst I've ever been a part of. I've been in the SEC, I've been in the NFL and I've never seen anything so bad: six holds against none until the end. At least when I got a 15-yarder the guy finally threw a flag."

Except maybe for the trips to Akron and EMU that are already scheduled, looks like we won't see UMass at a MAC stadium anytime soon.

My guess is that it has largely to do with the type of defense they are playing. They used to play a lot of zone, and in a zone they generally keep the receiver in front of them, and can watch the QB, and break on the ball. Now they are playing mostly man on man, and there they have to keep their eyes on the receiver.

Whip suspended for a week for using 'rape' as a verb describing the officiating.
Not sure how to have an image display here, but there is the image of the Official UMass Statement.

Every one of Papi White's receptions went for a first down or a touchdown for Ohio yesterday against UMass https://t.co/G4nmfqvVjs&mdash ; PFF College (@PFF_College) https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/104647803673507430...
Papi is clearly one of the best in the MAC at this point in his career. I'm not sure but I'd guess the over/under on 50+ yard TDs Papi could have had is year is at least 4 if the ball was not over or under thrown. In the fourth he beat man coverage by 5 yards and the ball was underthrown. happens about once a game so far this year.

There was quite the QB battle between Nathan Rourke and Andrew Ford yesterday with Rourke and Ohio getting the victory https://t.co/ycNxYUZZwU&mdash ; PFF College (@PFF_College) https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/104636479145821388...
I know 92+ is an 'A' but boy I'd like to see a higher score for Rourke when he accounted for 470 yards and 4 tds. I know there was a pick-six and an underthrow on a td to Papi but boy that is pretty good.

I was shocked to hear about the UMASS Coaches rant and subsequent 1 week suspension.
It is quite possible that this coach will loose his job after the season, partly because of this rant and partly because the team is not winning. He is not showing the right way to conduct oneself after a tuff loss.
I just did a little digging and discovered that Whipple's contract ends 1/13/19.
