I'm not a sports gambler, but can you create a prop bet that Ohio's football team will score more points against Kent State than its basketball team against Kent State during the schools' basketball games this winter?

Because I'd think about that one.

I am glad that we are playing Kent State near the beginning of the MAC Schedule instead of near the end, when this team begins to gel. Still, it is the MAC and anything goes at this point. I feel that I know less about this Ohio team than we knew before the beginning of the season. I am a Bobcat fan till the day I die, so time to strap in and hope for the best. Go Bobcats!!!

Shucks, I was hoping the game would be early as I have an evening wedding to attend. I haven't missed a Bobcat game in Dix in a bunch of years.

I cannot imagine an odds maker having OHIO at better than -8 due to the schedule. Two of Kent's losses were vs teams similar to UVA and the Bearcats with Kent's coming against the Illini and Ole Miss. Kent had three straight road games the final being a romp by Ball State. 4 out of 5 on the road to start the season is a pretty crappy schedule and it would be hard to get up for Balls considering the scheduling. The other loss came at the hands of the Nittany Lions a far more powerful opponent than OHIO will face this season.

The common game was Howard both on the MAC home fields where the Flashes had a positive 40 point spread while the Bobcats won.

Kent trails OHIO's rushing and and total offense and trails in total defense as well but OHIO didn't face a Penn State classed team.

Therefore it may be tight unless Kent has already given up for the year and the Bobcats are fresh as their MAC season gets underway. Or Kent could be happy to be home and the Howard game proves to be indicative of the two team's abilities.

Go Bobcats--make it a statement game like the way Ball State thumped em. "Smoke Kent; knock the Flashes on their Ashes"

We need to come out of the gate tackling, last week, their running backs and wide receivers broke multiple tackles in the first half, there was a lot of grabbing as it it was a practice. We need to cover well and the offensive line need to assert themselves and Rourke, Papi, Odom, irons and AJ will do the rest. We also need to look for new ways to use our tight ends. Go Cats

If we lose this week, it's hard for me to see any promise for the rest of the season. Just a fact...in Year 14, you don't lose to an always-rebuilding Kent State program.

Can't say I disagree. This needs to be a pretty convincing win.

I know, I know, road game in conference, but we need to announce our presence with authority in this one.

That said, our division titles usually have a really inexplicable loss.

Would be nice to hold a team to less than 30 points.

Yeah ... that sounds ridiculous ...

But they haven't done that in the last 6 regular season games ...

A 45-38 win over Kent doesn't exactly ooze with confidence.

This needs to be something more like a 31-13 win if they want us to take them serious as a MAC title contender.

But who here thinks this defense can hold Kent to 13? Not sure they could hold Glouster-Trimble to 13 points at this rate.

They maybe won't hold Kent to 13, but could do under 25. Except for Howard, Kent hasn't scored more than 24 pts this season. (Yeah, I know, they did better vs Howard than we did.) I think the score will be more like their BSU score. I'm thinking something like 48-20.

Nah, that's not a ridiculous goal. I honestly they they have a shot of doing it. I think Ohio will win, 42-28.

Vegas has Ohio winning by 13.5 and the over/under at 70. Solve for O and K:
O-K=13.5
O+K=70
so, O=K+13.5, meaning (K+13.5)+K=70, or 2K=56.5
So, K=28.25
meaning O=41.75

Ha! That's hilarious. That's exactly on my prediction, which I did before I looked up the spread and over/under.

Yes, Ohio has an excellent chance of holding Kent under 30.

Oh ... let's be sure to pull out all of your gems!

Loved your disappearing act after that loss to Akron last year.

Sorry if facts get in the way of your cheerleading practice.

I can't help it that Ohio has let up 30+ 6 straight regular season games.

But you keep taking that high road. Leave us lesser fans down here to play in the reality mud.

48-20 would be nice!

But I'm not holding my breath on that kind of output for Ohio.

For whatever reason, in Frank's 13 games against them... his offense has only broken 30 points once (last season)

Sorry bcat2 ... just more facts. Chirp away.

Four straight over Flashes allowing only 27 total points.

We'll see if trend continues

Style points have nothing to do with it. It's showing that you're actually the MAC Champ favorite against a perpetual cellar dweller which seemingly always upsets Ohio somehow when they shouldn't. Please stop this charade. We need to win big for once against a team that is steps below us.

I was surprised with the 13.5 pt. spread for this game.
I compare it to last weeks spread which was the same and we were at home.
This week we are on the road.
I originally thought 6-9 points would be the spread.
My final take from this is that the odds makers feel that Kent is not as good a team as UMASS.
