All week out here in Iowa, there has been a westerly wind with a steady drop in the temperature. I can only surmise that Miami's suck extends even out here.
I live in Butler County, 20 minutes from Yeager, the epicenter, and it' almost unlivable here. It knows no boundaries!
Well, that would account for that crazy punt by the Kent backup QB at Buffalo last night. I cant upload the video of that punt but for the folks who didnt see it, the ball was punted into what i heard was a 30+ MPH wind for a distance of 5-10 yards, possibly less. "A good summary of Kent's season" I heard someone say.

With the problems we've had with our D secondary and the injuries they have on D, I suspect Fiami will come out slingin' tonight. If it's our choice, we should go on offense first.

I saw it, assumed it got blocked. Never seen anything like it. Fascinating, really.

anyone watching in the cbus vicinity? As a cord cutter who can't get to Oxford tonight, I'm heading out to watch. Bdubs on Bethel has sound boxes, so that's my first choice. Blarney Stone has game but live music as well.
What are sound boxes?

Brian Smith...I agree with your assessment on a 1 TD advantage. I have no idea where they came up with this spread. Last week we were 4.5 favorites to a 6-3 team. Both games are away as well.

think back to the old Damon's Ribs place. where you had a speaker and could choose which game you wanted to hear.

Vegas power ratings. Miami, in spite of their record, has a higher power rating than WMU.

WMU was a not-so-impressive 6-3 with weak wins ... rated 107 this week.

Miami is 91.

Ohio for the record is 64th.

Line is up to Ohio -6 now to for the record.

And remember ... Ohio opened as an underdog vs. WMU before the QB news became official.

It's 3:54 here in the central time zone and Miami still sucks.

My deepest condolences. . . are you getting some kind of hazardous duty pay for living that close to the epicenter of such pure suckiness? OHIO should have a special fund to supplement the pay of such brave alumni as you. Keep your head down and your house shuttered! As has been said by sages in ages past, "this too shall pass."

Haven't had a Civil War reference for awhile, so I know you folks all feel deprived. So, here goes. Miami during the late Rebellion had demonstrations on campus in favor of the southern cause. No such demonstrations at OHIO. In fact, President Howard proclaimed that, "When we take into consideration the many young men who have volunteered to serve their country in the [Union] Army, it is a large number." He later estimated the number at between 70 and 80, and proclaimed that OHIO had furnished a larger proportion of soldiers in defense of the Union than any other college in the state. The records show that very few OHIO men enlisted in the rebel cause -- only one has been identified; he was Richard Griffin, Class of 1837, a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army. Miami, on the other hand, had almost an equal number of men in rebel service as men who remained loyal to the Federal government. Oh, the shame of it! Proving that Miami sucked then just as much as it sucks today! New Miami, Old Miami, oh how thou suckest then and how thou suckest now!

Well, I saw something even stranger . . . it involved a Kent State punt. About a decade ago we had a game at KSU that involved wind, rain, snow, sleet and periods of sunshine. On one of KSU's punts the wind whipped up and blew wet snow at the punter who shanked the ball off the side of his foot. This combined with the wind made the ball travel at almost right angles to the punter. It traveled a total of about two feet down the field! Shortest punt I've ever seen.

Not that I don't believe you but do you have a link to an article/page. Always interested in learning more about Civil War history and Miami's suckness

The information is not online that I know of. The references to OHIO's men fighting for the Union in great numbers, with a list of some of the better known is on pp. 123-125 of "The history of Ohio University, by Thomas M. Hoover, Ohio University Press, 1954. The references to the pro-Confederate demonstrations on the Miami campus is from an official history of Miami, with a title something like "New Miami, Old Miami, which was given to us by my wife's brother, a graduate of said sucky institution. I can't locate that copy right now, when I do I'll give you the exact pages with those references. There is a rather long discussion of the large number of rebel sympathizers in Oxford in that book.

I can give you a link to election maps on my 78th Ohio Veteran Volunteer Infantry
web site that show that Butler county voted against Lincoln both times (1860 and 1864) and for the Copperhead Vallandigham in the 1863 gubernatorial election:

http://78ohio.org/1860-presidential-election /

http://78ohio.org/1863-gubernatorial-race /

http://78ohio.org/1864-presidential-election /

Athens County voted overwhelmingly for Lincoln both times and for OHIO alumnus Brough in the gubernatorial election.

Rourke is looking a little sluggish to start, maybe we should throw some tight end pops to get him going. Go Cats

First adversity in a month. We'll see how they respond. Pretty ugly early ...

3rd down defense atrocious & defense as a whole looks bad.

Shaping up to be a long night

Never could I have imagined being down 28-7 in the 1st half...and look completely overmatched in the process. Unreal.

Seriously?! You're surprised by this?

It's November. It's Ohio football. There's a MAC title on the line.

What else would you expect!
