In my dreams, my college is actually able to win a mid-major football conference.

But apparently not. Not in my lifetime.

1968 wasn't that long ago.

This was never going to be the year, we knew that.

2016 and 2017 were extremely painful. Honestly, those two teams were two of Solich's best rosters. Put Rourke on the 2016 team as the starting QB and I think we beat WMU.

Ah, I see I'm at my reminscing/if only stage of my Bobcats loss grief.

Technically Ohio is still not out of the MACC race. If Ohio can win the next two and Buffalo drops its final two games the Bobcats win the East. Ohio just doesn't control its own destiny at this point.

The players can't tell themselves that when however slim they still have a mathematical chance of winning the East.

Come for the tailgating, the first half, and the band, Then go back to the tailgating. If you look at it that way, it's great!

Yeah ... same position they're in as last year after Akron loss

"We can still win the East if we beat Buffalo and Akron loses to Kent"

Ohio comes out and lays another egg at Buffalo.

Hmmmmmm.

Guessing that Ohio gets buried vs. Buffalo next week again.

Yep. Just like Akron had to lose to Kent last year. It's a complete longshot. .01% to happen.

But even with the long odds, Ohio had chance to take care of their end at UB last year ... but went up there and got thumped early and never recovered.

Just wondering if they'll circle the wagons next week or suffer from a disappointment hangover like they did last year (and have many times during the Solich era after tough losses)

I'm guessing it'll be a SRO crowd next Wednesday against Buffalo, what with last night's defeat and temps expected to be at a high of 35 degrees and a low of 22 for Wednesday. This one is going to be epic.

Peden will have a "Wilberforce vs. Ohio basketball in the Convo" - type feel to it for sure.

Thanks MACtion. You win again.

Not only does Ohio have to beat Buffalo and Buffalo has to lose to BG...Ohio has to beat Akron the following week. The odds are very slim.

Better odds ...

Ohio wins out and UB loses out and Ohio goes to Detroit?

.... OR ....

Ohio cuts ties with Albin/Burrow at season's end?

Like an unstoppable force hitting an immovable object, I can't wrap my brain around which of these two choices comes out on top.

And Fiami has to lose to either NIU (highly likely) or BSU (ain't gonna happen). I think in a 3-way tie with Ohio and Buffalo, Fiami would have the edge. The three would all be 1-1 against each other, but Buffalo would drop out based on division record: Ohio and Fiami would be 4-1 vs the East, Buffalo 3-2. That would leave a tie between Ohio and Fiami and Fiami has the tiebreaker.

Would it?

It would be pretty much exactly like last year.

Ohio took Toledo to the woodshed ... the team that went on to win the MAC title. But Ohio gagged on their way to the East title.

Replace Toledo with Buffalo and you'd have 2018.

I was a student at Ohio U. back in '68. I saw the MAC Champs play and went to the T-bowl. I am thinking unless we go back to being called Ohio U. we will not win another Championship in my lifetime. Needless to say I never thought 14 years ago when FS was hired that 14 years later he could not field ONE team that would win a MACC. Instead we get 7-5 or 8-4 and Toilet Bowl year in and out. Better than the 80s but still leaves me waiting for the whole enchilada!

It baffles me when I see these kind of posts when Ohio is still ALIVE for a MACC. No, Ohio does not control its own destiny any longer and is now facing an uphill battle. However, this team has NOT been eliminated from anything. If Ohio is eliminated and you want to complain, then do so. But to complain about it before its even a certainty is foolish, because those same people are the first to jump back on the bandwagon if things turn for the better and act like their negativity and pessimism is excusable. Come on man...
