I can’t help but think of what would have happened if Nathan picked Akron instead of us last year. Bowden saw what Solich saw and both offered him a scholarship when nobody else did. You can say that it was an obvious choice but we don’t always get them head to head with the Zips.
We are real fortunate we got him.
Means he would step out of the back of the endzone against us and we would win!!!

Going to be a great football weekend. On Friday the Bobcats dispatch the Zips and BG takes down Buffalo! Woo Hoo!

Then Friday night my St. Edward Eagles take down the Olentangy Liberty Patriots in the D1 Ohio High School semi-finals and I'm on my way.

Hey, I can dream can't I?

On to Saturday I'll watch the rivalry game, but I'm not an Ohio State fan, so I'll plead indifference at noon.

It all comes together on Sunday/Funday when I get my dessert and the Clowns and Lt. Baker Mayfield thrash the Bengals in Cincy!

https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/browns/the-lt-baker...

On the thread topic, I'm really hoping for BG to upset Buffalo and us to take care of business. In the event we're the only team that wins, I'd love to see us get in a bowl where we take down a major program. That would be (almost) as satisfying as a MAC title.

Your perfect weekend is going to be off to a bad start with Ball State behind the woodshed.

I just don't know what to do now. My true fandom and love of everything Ohio University will make me watch the Kron game but everything inside me tells me that no matter what we do it is going to be disappointing. I am on the couch watching another MAC title game in a few weeks without OU in it and without us winning it. I am on the couch again thinking that it's been 14 years of a clean and consistent program while teams like Northern Illinois are clean and consistent yet champions during that time.

I look at what could have been and how Frank is never questioned hard. How he is never pushed for a real response to the fact that he has NEVER won a title with us. The media loves him. His players love him. He is a legend who deserves the field named after him at Peden BUT it's time to move on from all three men in leadership (Albin and Burrow too).

I will watch this Kron game. I will stand up and cheer but it will be a weak cheer and it will be with pursed lips as I prepare to stand up and cheer for a bowl game against Furman or Central Connecticut State or Nevada Christian.

A field cannot be named after someone who never even won a conference title. Longevity at Ohio has simply been achieved by not getting fired for being too bad, and not being hired by someone else for being too good. It's solid by Ohio Football standards, but not worthy of naming rights.

I don't see Ohio having a let down because our MACCG hopes are gone. It was a long shot anyway. The players will have a couple days to get over it and focus on what's important -- winning the last home game.

You "don't know what to do now." "... no matter what we do it is going to be disappointing." So sorry the team is such a disappointment to you. However, IMHO, the seniors deserve better. Next, where do you come up with "Furman or Cent Conn St. or Nevada Christian?" The last run of bowl opponents have been good teams with 9, 10, 9 and 8 wins. Hoping the team still "knows what to do now." Your strong, enthusiastic support is championship dependent, good to know.

I realize many who visit this message board are disappointed about the last game of the season not having league title implications for the Bobcats. I am bummed that Ohio doesn't get to show Detroit and the MAC that they are the best team in the league. Two close defeats cost them this opportunity. They won't be in Detroit, but this season isn't over. They have a great chance to end the season strong and earn nine wins. If this were basketball, baseball, volleyball or softball they would still be able to earn a league championship by winning the post season tournament that invites 8 teams or more. It isn't, so I will show my support by cheering on a great group of Seniors who have worked hard for this university.

I'll be doing likewise with my classmate John Edwards.

Respectfully disagree. Name another figure in Ohio's football history that has done more for Ohio football than Solich?

If you've ever visited this board, you know where I stand in terms of the MAC title & how it continues to elude him.

Regardless, Solich will leave as the winningest coach in MAC history ... maybe in school history. He put Ohio football back on the map.

The shortcomings are plentiful during his tenure ... and they bother me as many will tell you I "whine" about. But I shudder to think where Ohio football would be without him.

I can only guess what Hagan’s announcement is going to be after this game. He’s really active tweeting about it.

You have to think either declaring for the draft or grad transfer.

This is a rare time that bshot and I will agree. Agree 100% bshot as Frank and this program have made great strides. This university should honor him in some way when he decides to step down.

I want 8 wins.

Every game matters for recruiting and exposure. Smack the Zips, get a solid bowl, win again in that one and finish with 9 wins.

We're letting these guys hang around way too long. Even with 3 touchdown lead, sloppy execution, dumb penalties. Make that 2 touchdown lead...

Nice call Sparrow. Now I'd like to see this team against a quality bowl opponent.
