Unfortunately yes.

Hence why not winning the MAC the last few years has been an absurdity when the best team in the MAC resides in Athens.....

There is not a single doubt in my mind that we'll have the only MAC win this bowl season. Not a single doubt.

Here’s the crazy thing. Ohio will be more well known and more positively thought of nationwide (and for good reason) as having been the only MAC team to have won a bowl game (really, multiple bowl games) over the last 3 years. The fact they haven’t won a MACC in 50 years will probably be irrelevant to most casual observers.

Sacriligeous thought: I really really want Ohio to win a MACC. But the way things are going, is it really necessary?

Now back to the consumption of XMas Ales......

After the Bobcat performance, MAC fans were opting for a nice celebratory ale, scotch or brandy. With the way the BYU-Western Michigan game is going, if this keeps up for the rest of the bowl season, MAC fans might be in the alley drinking Wild Irish Rose, or the wine of the century--Mad Dog i.e. things aren't looking good!

And to add insult to injury, while the other MAC teams are losing bowl games, sometimes by large margins, OHIO has outscored its last 2 bowl victims 68-6. Not too shabby!

Yes, I think it will be the only MAC bowl win. But let's at least be fair about the criticism, Ohio has had two very favorable bowl opponents the past two years. UAB was in its first year back from the dead and SDSU has resembled road kill the second half of the season. That's not to discredit Ohio's wins, but if the rest of the MAC got to play UAB last year and SDSU this year, there would have been other MAC wins.

I don't know about this. The Ohio teams that played both bowl games were healthy and seemed to have very good game plans. They also matched up very well against both teams they played. UAB's weakness was defending the run game. THe Cats will exploit that no other MAC team. SDSU relied heavily on the run. You need to throw to beat the Cats. I'm not so sure the matchups would have been so favorable for other MAC teams.

I agree, especially with the win over SDSU. That game was supposed to be strength against strength, Ohio’s run game versus SDSU’s stout run defense, one of the top run defenses in the nation. And I think UAB proved last year was no fluke. Had Ohio barely beaten both teams, that would be one thing. But they outscored them 68-6! That’s 2 different beat downs in bowl games.

Buffalo doesn't run an offensive play in the 3rd quarter.

The MAC has simply been pathetic in the bowls the last three years. It's flat out embarrassing.

Sadly, this year was less embarrassing than last year. This year's losses were by 2, 24, 31, 3 and 10 pts -- a total of 70 pts, an average of 14 pts.

Last year's losses were by 50, 23, 34 and 22 pts -- a total of 129 pts, an average of 32.25 pts. Oddly enough, going 1-4 last year was more embarrassing than going 0-6 in 2016 when the average margin of loss was only 11 pts.

This is why I wish Ohio would have been matched up with a quality bowl opponent the last two years. UAB and SDSU were mediocre at best and offered no challenge whatsoever and both Ohio teams would have been primed to beat much better bowl opponents. It's disappointing because Ohio's non-conference schedules are often equally disappointing. Ohio's been the best team in the MAC the last two years and won't have a true marquee win to show for it.

So perhaps the PFF MAC POY, Mr. Lowery, was a more appropriate choice or even the MAC's leading rusher, Mr. Ouellette. Admittedly my Ohio bias showing here. Buffalo's 4 losses were by an average 41.5-22.7. Their defense loses 8 senior starters from this season's depth chart. If Mr.Jackson does transfer Buffalo will be a stretch to defend the MAC East.
